HAL McCORMACK
The things he does with a guitar are illegal in some states is just one of the many comments made about Hal McCormack, a well-respected legend among guitarists everywhere. Raised among the backbeat rock of Memphis , Hal began his professional career starting his bands, M. Slider and Driving South from 1987-1990.
Hal joined Jimi Jamison and Survivor as their second guitarist in 1991. While with Jamison, Hal co-wrote and recorded the track, "Johnny's Got a Shot Gun", which was featured on Jamison's solo record, When Love Comes Down and Survivor's record, The Jamison Years. He also played on the song, "Ever Since the World Began", which was featured on the Sylvester Stallone film, Lock Up. From 1991 - 1995 with Jamison, Hal toured with such acts as Tora Tora, Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Toto, Molly Hatchet, REO Speedwagon, and Kansas. He is currently recording with Ed King, Robert Nix, and is on tour now with the bands Deep South, Uprisin, The Atlanta Rhythm Section, and Jim Dandy's Black Oak Arkansas .
Over the years, Hal has become a powerhouse of musicianship, playing in over 15 countries and in 47 states. His musicianship has been recognized numerous times. He was selected to play on Joe Walsh-produced studio sessions and with blues great Robert Cray, and has been nominated twice as best guitarist by the Premiere Player's Award of Memphis .
As is heard many times at any one of his venues, Hal McCormack can play with anyone. It holds true!
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, home of the blues and the birthplace of rock-n-roll McCormack has twice been nominated Memphis’s best guitarist by NARAS (The Grammy Organization.)
McCormack is a former member of the 80’s hit rock band SURVIVOR (featuring Jimmie Jameson) and has toured with the 80’s hit rock band TORA TORA. One of his first projects as a young guitar player was with the Billy Gibbons’ named band M. SLIDER which pursued a production deal with Joe Walsh.
Living in Memphis, Tennessee, McCormack tours with the band BLACK OAK ARKANSAS and records and performs with the Alison Heafner Band. As a producer, his current projects include Uprisin’, Black Oak Arkansas and his own project UPRISIN with Tora Tora lead singer, Anthony Corder.
