One must hear the great Stella Blue on guitar, & vocals to feel her power ! STELLA BLUE rocks out with great originals and a few unique covers. Her band features Steve "Maddog" Call (Leon Russell,David Allen Coe,Sideshow,Ruby Star, Steve also did studio work for A&M and Shelter records). Dave Swords (ex-Missouri Breaks/Burnt) on bass, and Aaron Jarrell on Drums. Together they create a rock sound like no other! Stella has a unique and powerful voice that combines musical styles ! From Rock N Roll, to R&B, STELLA BLUE's got the beat!
Stella Blue Band has played with bands such as: Jim Dandy's BLACK OAK ARKANSAS,ANDY TANAS of Krokus/BOA, DRIvIN' RAIN, ZAK PERRY BAND, NINTH LIFE, and others. The Stella Blue Band is about to unvail their new all original CD. The Stella Blue Band hooked up with Cabala Productions in 2003 and has been one of Cape Scenes hottest new acts.
Stella Blue herself originates from the woods of the Ozark Mountains. She began traveling the U.S. at an early age with hopes of broadening her horizons and learning how to tattoo. Stella first became enamored with guitar on the streets of San Deiago, California while hanging out with the street musicians of Ocean Beach. After leaving California, Stella purchased her first guitar in Tuscan, Arizona as an 18th birthday present to herself. Never staying in one place too long, Stella taught herself to play, sing, and write music. Now after six years of playing guitar and doing/getting tattoos, Stella has developed a style of writing and performing like no other. Some of those who have influenced and inspired Stella are as follows (but not limited to) : Stone Temple Pilots, Al Di Meola, Tesla, Cher, Iron Maiden, Rush, Joe Cocker, And most definately Drivin' Rain.
Stella Blue is backed by the undeniable talent and experience of the other 3 members of her band. Heading up the Roster is Steve Maddog Call . here is a exerpt from Sonny's page:From Sonny's Page: Steve MadDog Call with the Band Riff Raff Maddog Call was a studio musician and has played with the Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Taj Mahal, Quicksilver, David Allen Coe, Eric Clapton, Jerry Garcia, Elvin Bishop and many others. He has been a 1% er his whole life and is now playing with the band Riff Raff. I have one of their songs that I love on my profile player on upper left side of page most of the time. Give it a listen and tell a friend, you will also find a Link to Maddags and the band Riff Raff pages on the lower left side of my page. You will also find both in my top friends list. They are Missouri boys and we need more like them. I use to love going down to Missouri after I moved to Southern Illinois from Chicago years ago. Will always remember the times I spent in Missouri. Anyway check them out and tell a friend, they play from the heart. Just added, Maddog has just lost his wife Teresa and my heart and prayers go out to Maddog and his family.
Dave "The Captain" Swords provides an astonishing sound to the mix with his unique and bold stylings on Bass. Dave also provides backing vocals helping to fill in the medley. With over twenty years of experience, Dave has made his mark by playing in bands such as : The Trend- in Detroit, No Tresspassing- in Detroit, Carbon Copy- in Detroit, Power Play- in Detroit, Missouri Breaks- in Missouri, And Dennis Ray Baine and Burnt- in Missouri. With an eclectic style and a wide range of influences, Dave Swords adds a magic to the songs and grooves of Stella Blue. Dave and Missouri Breaks was featured on "The City Of Roses Rocks 2000" CD along with Drivin' Rain, DC Tryal and others. A few of his many influences include : Mozart, John McGlaughlin, Al Di Meola, as well as the entire Michigan Rock Scene.
The Stella Blue Band is proud to present the thunderous roar of Aaron Jarrell. After picking up drumming and guitar in high school and church, bringing with him over 20 years experience, Aaron has come into the band strong and Bold . His astonishing interpretations lead the way in Stella and Leslie's unique style of music. Aaron has played with such bands as Missouri Breaks, The Factory, and The Muddy River Band - to name a few. Aaron's influences are said to be: Rush, The Police, The Dave Matthews Band amongst many others . Aaron Jarell is truely a blessing and a necessity to the rock livelyhood of The Stella Blue Band .From bars to brothels to biker events and festivals, Stella Blue seems to always fit and bring charm and good times along with her wherever she may be. Fans of Melissa Ethridge, Sass Jorden, 4 Non Blonde, and Janis Joplin will love this bands music and stage show. Stella Blue is blue collar, mississippi river blues and rock. Catch them live this year.
