NEIL'S MUSIC ROOM Thursday nights at Neil's is something you just shouldn't pass up. The band and I have decided to start playing every other THURSDAY night in an effort to connect with our Memphis area friends. First, if you haven't seen us before, this is a great time to do so. Neil's is an amazing venue. The atmosphere is a perfect spot for the blues, and with its professional stage and amazing sound engineer, this is the beginning of something very special. BBQ along with FREE ADMISSION, I don't see how you can beat it. I hope to see some of you out there!
BIKE WEEK 09' Hello guys and gals. The Bike Week 09' tour went without a hitch. Ten days straight gigging on a great stage off main street. I finally put my new camera to use and am uploading new pictures to myspace and also facebook. By the way, if you aren't my friend on facebook, click the following. THE SECOND ANNUAL BLUES PIANO SUMMIT It started on Beale St., it changed the world, and somewhere along the way, Blues piano got shuffled to the back of the musical line. On Saturday, February 7th, it will resurface and show it's bad self at the Second Annual Blues Piano Summit.
The Blues Piano Summit will feature some of the top-notch pianists on the Blues scene today. Everyone from the 14 year-old sensation Matt Wiggler, to several artists old enough to be his grandfather. Listeners will enjoy and learn about the mosaic of roots piano, including Chicago style, old-time barrelhouse, Memphis beat, stride, gospel, Boogie-Woogie and Jazz. These styles found their way to Beale St. in the 1920's, and continue to evolve in the blues world of today.

Other special guests include: Reverend Billy C. Wirtz, Victor Wainwright, Eden Brent, Robert "Tombs" Nighthawk, Charlie Woods, Joe Sykes, Clay Swafford and many more....

Venue: Wet Willies, Beale St. Memphis, TN.

Showtime: 8pm - (Or Join us after the IBC finals)

Victor Wainwright's Boogie Blues Revue 9/02/08 With his Memphis based band, The Victor Wainwright Boogie and Blues Revue, Wainwright has been stirring the waters with band-mates Leo Goff, Dennis Falanga, Josh Roberts and Greg Gumpel. The band will be performing at multiple festivals in the coming months and when not on the road with Victor, can be found at Wet Willies on Beale Street most weekends.
With the band's recent success and added attention, Victor thought that each member should be properly introduced.
As a professional bassist, Leo Goff bends the lines across Blues, R&B, Jazz, and genuine Rock n' Roll, to project a style and sound very much his own. Endorsed by Barker Bass, Leo has performed and recorded with such greats as Albert King, Jeff beck, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Pinetop Perkins.
Dennis Falanga is one of the most respected drummers in the industry. He has toured, played and recorded with an impressive array of international artists. Teaching and performing for over 25 years, Dennis is as versatile as he is exciting to watch.
With his earnest Memphis-Mississippi playing style, Josh Roberts is a seasoned and professional guitar player. Having recently recorded with Steven Segal for a project of blues greats Bob Margolin, Koko Taylor, Pinetop Perkins and others, Josh is also a member of the regional and national touring band, Reba Russell.
Greg Gumpel's career as Victor's guitar player has spanned nearly a decade. Also a member of the "Wild Roots Band," Greg has toured and performed with Victor longer than any other performer. Greg aka "Hillbilly Hendrix," plays a wild guitar that is fitting and a perfect match to Victor's nuclear piano. Having excellent skill as both a musician and as an entertainer, he is only surpassed by the greatest....ie... Victor himself. =c) <

News 6/17/08 Victor's Florida based band, The Wild Roots, are busy recording their next album. Featuring the same amazing lineup as their last CD, Piana From Savannah, and joined by several new Memphis based musicians, Chris Stephenson and Josh Roberts, the new album, tentively titled "From Beale Street to the Bayou, will be a mix of old and new sounds. Victor has been flying down to Florida monthly to meet with producer, and Wild Root's bass player Stephen Dees, to write and record with the band. Expect to hear a sneak peek some time in the near future!
News 5/11/08 Wet Willie's has been a wonderful place to call home for Victor Wainwright. Playing continuously every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night, Beale street has accepted the boogie woogie piana king with open arms. At the same time, the Piana from Savannah is making some serious strides with the Master of the 88 Key Disaster, Reverend Billy C. Wirtz. The pair have named themselves "THE ROLL MODELS" and will be touring all over the states throughout the summer. This does mean that Victor will be absent from Wet Willies while on the road, however, expect to see Mr. Wainwright on Beale Street any time he's not touring with the Reverend. By the way, if you haven't seen this two piano boogie woogie show, you are definitely missing out. The show is flat out wowing audiences and selling out venues in just about town they stop!
News 4/10/08 Wainwright has just returned from Daytona Beach where he joined Reverend Billy C. Wirtz for several "Bike Week" events. Victor and the Reverend played to sold-out, standing room only crowds at each show. They performed at the following locations: Wise Guys, Frank's Front Row, Flagler Tavern, Angell and Phelps, and the Fedorra Ranch.
News 3/01/08 Beale Street Caravan radio show played Victor's live performance at the Hi Tone Cafe' this weekend. You can listen to a sample of the show above, in the music player, titled "Muddy Waters." Now in its seventh season, Beale Street Caravan remains the world’s most popular Blues radio program with over 300 US affiliate stations and over 100 affiliate stations worldwide in Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Africa and Asia. Great Blues music interspersed with an interview with the featured artist before a live crowd entertains a worldwide audience of 2.4 million listeners each week.
News 2/24/08 Italy's JAZZ MAGAZINE included Victor's song "Sugar Shop" in their monthly compilation CD. They also wrote a full page article on Victor. Click on the below thumbnail images for a larger view.
News 1/1/08 Victor and the Reverend Billy C. Wirtz have recorded their new CD and DVD, "Pianist Envy - Live at Angell and Phelps". Look for both out this summer! Listen to the track Shake Rattle and Roll, located in the music player above, for a sample of this highly anticipated album.

NEWS 4/20/07 It is with much excitement that we report to you Victor has been rewarded a highly sought offer spot on Beale Street. For now, he will be playing at Wet Willie's on Beale every week with his best friend and guitar player Greg Gumpel, featured on the Piana From Savannah album. With hundreds of bands in Memphis all vying for limited space and access to the thousands of tourists traveling through downtown daily, Victor is in a prime location to spread his blues boogie roots rock n' roll. Expect a new blog on the matter from Victor shortly.
