Só R$5.Binario is known as the band that plays every Sunday at Ipanema beach, but this is a very restrictive way of describing it.The first thing that calls attention in the group is the line-up: seven musicians and an eighth member who handles all the visual aspects (such as videos, pictures and projections). Formed by Lucas Vasconcellos (guitar, vocal & piano), Bernardo Palmeira (drums & sampler), Estevão (synthesizers & electronics), Fábio Lima (guitar & wind instruments), Eduardo Manso (guitar & electronics), Rafael Rocha (drums & percussion), Bruno di Lullo (bass) and Paulo Camacho (images), the group has been renewing itself for more than five years, trying to break the logical connections between music and images.
Formerly made up of Bernardo, Lucas and Paulo only, the band has grown in number as well as in concept over the years. The background of its members is extremely diverse, which accounts for an inventive kind of music that is rhythmically rich, has many guitars, processed and electronic sounds, and also lots of improvisation and loop experiments.
The influences go from kraut rock to progressive, hip hop, dub/reggae and electronic music.Binario has already released an album called "Nereida" by Bolachas Discos (using the semi-metallic disc technology), a DVD recorded live outdoors - under a tree - and a 7" vinil by Far Out Recordings in Europe.
A full-length album, released by the same label, is due late 2007.contatos:
