Maria Angelica Doesn't Live Here Anymore

About Me

Maria Angelica Doesn't Live Here Anymore was founded by journalist/poet/writer Fernando Naporano in 1985 with a bunch of long time friends, including guitarrist Carlos Nishimiya. The group went through a lot of line-up changes, finally setting with the musicians that went to record their first LP, "Outsider". At the time Maria Angelica were Fernando Naporano, vocals and lyrics, Carlos Nishimiya and Victor Bock, guitars, Lu Stopa, bass and the late great drummer Victor Leite. At the time the group was the first to record a rock album with english lyrics, something that many later groups adopted. "Outsider" came up in 1989 after the group recorded many demo tapes with many songs that remain unreleased until now. The group still managed to record two more records, an EP (Full Moon Depression) and an LP (Stroboscopic Cherries) with another line-up. Both discs comprised songs already written by former members (Carlos Nishimiya/Lu Stopa/Naporano/Victor Leite/Victor Bock). The group ended their activities in 1992. About the songs:
"Dissipações" - this unreleased song was recorded on our second demo tape but never used on one of our records. It have portuguese lyrics, typical of our early years. A mostly unusual song to us, hope you like it. Not many people have heard this before.
"Te Amo Podes Crer" - this was specially recorded for the Arnaldo Baptista tribute record, "Sanguinho Novo". Arnaldo was the leader of 60's psychedelic brazilian legends, Os Mutantes.
"Shame Of Love" - taken from the "Outsider" LP sessions, this take was not on the album
"A Song Is Born" - taken from the "Full Moon Depression" EP
"FMI (Fantasma da Mulher Ideal)" - another demo recording, from the days when the band was still writing songs in their native language, portuguese.
All the songs will be rotated regularly to give space to many other compositions. We (Carlos & Fernando) hope to complete the work of rescuing and digitalize the many cassette tapes we have to compile a CD of unreleased songs. And maybe do one or two gigs to promote the intended release. This page is maintained by Carlos Nishimiya. All messages to Fernando Naporano will be forwarded to him.
