About Me

Sit Tight Records is a workers co-operative hip hop record label. They have been releasing records since 2001 to critical acclaim in the national hip-hop press and radio. Founder-Directors Patrick (Lopez) Sheridan and Lenny (LG) Greenberg took the decision to step up the business in 2004. After exploring the options, Sit Tight opted for the workers co-operative company model: "It seemed the natural choice because it reflects our values, and collective way of working which you find in hip-hop culture. We wanted to find a way to support our label, remain ethical and allow participation and opportunity for people we work with." Sit Tight Co-operative three members; Founder-Director Pat Sheridan and members Biscuit and Micall Parknsun. A roll call of who we've worked with 2001 - present: Aspects & Monkey Moo (we linked Monkey Moo with Aspects for their first combined vinyl release "Storming" on our first single STR001) Yungun (Again, Sit Tight were the first to get the mighty Essa on wax - check "Lifelong" on STR001 and since recorded the classic cut "City Breaks" for STR002 and peep "Can't you see?" forthcoming on LG & Biscuits debut Longplayer "Smoke Rings" due out on 04/09/06) Science Venom (ridiculous emcees S Bashir and 2Face, who sadly haven't seen the exposure they deserve since) Biscuit (first graced STR002 with his flute on the track "City Breaks" and has since gone on to appear on many of the Sit Tight releases. His magnum opus is the forthcoming LP "Smoke Rings" a joint project between him and LG out on Sit Tight Records 4/9/6. Biscuit is a core member of the co-operative as well as an artist) Jehst (The Drifter blessed our second single with "Rocket Fuel" and this was the start of a long working relationship specifically between LG and Jehst. Other appearances include Micall Parknsuns debut single "Da Struggle", P's debut album "Guns of Naverone", a remix of "Hungry" for STR008 and a few cuts on LG & Biscuits "Smoke Rings") Skriblah and Diamond Ruff (The Terra Firma men represented on STR002's "Rocket Fuel" and Sit Tight were lucky enough to release Skribs debut 12" STR003 - another coup for us. Since then Skriblah featured on "Saltfish & Aggie" on STRLP01. The crazy thing is, Skribs has some ridiculous material that's been in the vaults since 2003 (when his debut "Dredd Ting" got released by us) I hope it gets out there one day. It should also be credited that the track "Day after the Apocalypse" featured on Wordsmiths STR005 Sit Tight Release was actually conceived and organised by Skriblah, though bizarrely wasn't chosen for his release. Hindsight can be cruel sometimes... Micall Parknsun (Park-E has taken the label to the next level and conversely we committed more to this artist than ever before. P has a big soul and ever since Sit Tight dropped his debut single "Tha Shit! / Da Struggle" in 2004 he's been part of the team. Another first for Sit Tight with Micall Parknsun and his 2005 debut LP "The Working Class Dad" was the first LP we released - to critical acclaim. The label is five releases deep with Mr Parknsun now and we feel proud to have him as a member of the co-operative. Also check his own space www.myspace.com/micallparknsun) Wordsmith (One of the finest, most technical emcees to come out of London in recent years. Sit Tight can claim to have released the finest 12" by Words out there - Soz Al from Son but it's true!! Also featuring on "Saltfish & Aggie" on Parky's debut LP. Words has had some crazy controversy surround him in 2006 and we hope his talent doesn't fade away) Dubbledge (Like Wordsmith, we think Edgy is one of the finest from England, nuff said. "Sonshine" STR006 got released as a cheeky promo in 2005 and will feature on LG & Biscuits "Smoke Rings" with a 12" re-release. It's an amazing track and the fact that Dubbledge supports Parky live is another reason to celebrate this geezar. Also check "Hungry" and "Combo" from Mr Parknsuns debut LP and 3rd single. I sincerely hope Sit Tight get to work with Dubbledge again. And the next chapter is Conspicuous (aka Conspicuous the Coronor the dirty stinking foreigner - soon to be known simply as CONS) His 2nd LP "The Family Photo Album" will be dropped as a collabo between Sit Tight Records and his own label Ottomanelf recordings. This is due out on 29th October 2007. Watch this space!!! The lead single is "Ain't no way" b/w "One of them days".
