The
Just Poetry Slam series is Richmond's Longest Running Slam Venue. Local poets get three minutes to present one poem and are evaluated by judges picked from each audience for a
$100.00 prize. Journalists have called the Just Poetry Slam
"an entertaining mix of rap concert, 'Gong Show' and tent revival." The Just Poetry is held the last Monday of every month at the
Firehouse Theatre. Free and open to all, the Just Poetry Slam has become so successful that each event is now standing-room-only.
Hosted by Richmond actor d.l. hopkins, the Just Poetry Slam has become a popular fixture for both emerging and professional poets to develop their craft, get feedback and share their poetry with the Richmond community.
