I see the past as only a positive challenge to the future - Stevland Morris

About Me

Taking my life journey one step at at time. After fumbling, stumbling, and going in circles straight down to nowhere - I absorb the light around me and move on; stronger with each forward step, more confident with each deeper breath. The stuff that dreams are made of can be whatever I determine to dream. I think too much but I'm not a philosopher. I smile more and more yet I'm not a clown. I love to laugh and make others laugh, I love to entertain: I know that is my purpose. So, an actress I shall be.... Recently I face unheard of obstacles, I suffer through unimaginable loss - but I still keep my head high. I have rediscovered my sense of self: esteem, worth, value - all of it. I move forward and don't look back in anger, regret, or sadness. I've learned to stop looking for all the answers and concentrate more on the questions. I've learned that in order to be a good actress I must first know my true self. Clearing away the mental confusion, I strive to be a better woman, daughter, friend. I'm not perfect, not even close: but I'm doing better at accepting my flaws and forgiving my imperfections. Most of all I'm slowly learning how to let go of the things I cannot change. Moving on to a new life with new choices, moving to a better life and a better place...I finally believe that I'm worthy. Here is to fame, fortune, family, and love.... Music:

I love Music - all of it, all forms... Not too into the new Pop trends and all that radio overplay crap. I'm an old soul who likes old school. Currently building the soundtrack to my life, the process is not as easy as it sounds What's in my CD player right now? Ella Fitzgereld What have I been listening to lately? Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ben Harper, Stevie Wonder (a musical genius), CCR, Beck, Bjork, The Philadelphia Experiment, Karl Denson, Bob Marley, Coltrane, The Police, Coldplay, Violent Femmes, Wu-Tang, Anita Baker, Aretha Franklin, Mozart, Busta Rhymes, The Roots, Rene Marie, Ray Charles (another musical genius), Moby, Antibalas, Erykah Badu, Mary J. Blige, Bonnie Raitt, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, The Pretenders, U2, James Brown, Sly & The Family Stone, Al Green, Chaka Khan, Kanye West, Miles Davis, Jill Scott, Jane's Addiction, Parliment, Soulive, Smashing Pumpkins, Wyclef, The Temptations, Curtis Mayfield, Alice Cooper, Lenny Kravitz, Missy Elliott, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Sade, the bassline of "Natural One" by Folk Impolsion etc etc etc

Movies:

Kung Fu like "Deadly China Hero" "Shaolin Soccer" "House of Flying Daggers" (but nothing beats Kurosawa) A real love story like "Love Jones" and "Love Story" Anything Tarantino touches especially "Pulp Fiction" (all time favorite) and "True Romance" All hail the cinematic significance of Spike Lee. Most anything Shakespeare like "Titus" and "Othello" I like movies that I can put on and turn the sound down like "5th Element" "Baraka" I'm starting to get a flair for the power of documentaries like "Super Size Me" and "Bowling for Columbine" Then there are the movies that stay with me "City of God" "Maria Full of Grace" "Million Dollar Baby" "Angels in America" "Brazil" "Hotel Rwanda" and "Ray" too many other movies to mention -- i love them all

Television:

'General Hospital' (my only soap opera weakness). The Simpsons and the Boondocks should be mandatory for every American to watch. There is also great stuff on Grey's Anatomy, Heroes (my favorite new show), South Park, and the Colbert Report. Other than that........watch less TV: go to the theater!!

Books:

The Art of Happiness; The Alchemist; Celestine Prophecy; To Be Young, Gifted and Black; and lots and lots of plays - that's what I've been reading

Heroes:

My mother and father, my mentor Marvin Sims; and I'm also inspired by children - some of the best converstations I have are with kids
