About Me

One of my missions is to do my part to help the creative community (artists/musicians/filmmakers/writers/dancers/perfomers/carn y folk/etc.) evolve to the next level where we can have creativity breathing in and out of our every surroundings. A few years ago I came to the realization that you can sit around and bitch about something or you can stand up and do everything in your power to create positive progression. So, now I am...and I encourage all to do the same. I'm more excited about the things happening in and around me than I've ever been. There is powerful energy flowing through this city and it's time do what we can to open peoples eyes and realize the impact that we can make when we work together to build a community. Unity is a powerful force.
I like to bring fun wherever I go...
Back in April of 2005 Tony Harris and I started a magazine called RVA Magazine . I'm the Creative Director/Managing Editor/Event Coordinator of the publication. We are doing what we can to change the way Richmond media works and showing people that a local publication can be intelligent, funny, and visually exciting and also have a much needed, honest edge...We are constantly accepting submissions from artists, writers, designers, photographers and circus freaks...check it out, pick one up, and ALWAYS support you local creative community and the people passing through our area. Not only is RVA Magazine available (FREE!) in print around various locations in Richmond, VA it's also downloadable (FREE as well) and now...INTERACTIVE! Go to RVAMAG.com to get some RVA culture up in ya... ...AND...
I'm also the Creative Consultant and Events Organizer at Gallery5 (formerly fire station steamer co. 5). We bring innovative art, music, performances, etc. to this unique location. It has been called the "hottest" gallery on the art walk and is quickly becoming the leader in evolving the art scene into something exciting, fresh, and long overdue for the Richmond area. G5 was voted the "Best Art Gallery" in Richmond in 2007 by the readers of Richmond Magazine so I guess we are doing something right. Get ready cause you ain't seen nothing yet!!

I'm also Ringmaster Rev. Blackfire for the Carnival of 5 Fires

Come join us for the Co5F 2007 , Oct. 5th, 6th, and 7th. Let the carny fun begin!
Seems like ages ago I was also part of a team of partially enlightened, highly evolved, maniacal deviants born from a druidic ritual involving monkeys, rubber bands, dog hair, wooden shoes, and Mr. Rodgers. We called ourselves [man speaking chinese] . We are currently on hiatus due to our drummer being abducted by entities from another dimension that closely resemble Larry Hagman (known in TV land as J.R. Ewing). Now Joe has joined the Texas brainsaw massacre and [msc] is reforming in a different configuration.
As far as my personality and such goes....I'm sarcastic, sporatic, sometimes a spaz, sometimes mellow, sometimes sweet, sometimes not. Love me or hate me, understand me or not, I try to always be genuine. I have a wacky sense of humor that ranges from silly to dry. It's hard for me to contain my energy especially when I'm passionate about the goals I'm working toward. I can't stand people who whine about themselves or play victim. Sometimes I'm brutally honest with my opinion but open to other people's opionions as well. I believe in living life in balance and that too much of anything is not good for you. I have an adventurous spirit and think that travelling deepens your knowledge and expands your soul...............I ramble a lot.................
Oh yeah, I'm an artist/painter as well and need to get my ass back in my studio...........
The studio at dusk...
it's good for your skin...
