OMG, OMG, we were featured on CNN Headline News in a "Roller Derby Resurgence" piece that ran more than TWELVE times on November 11 and 12!

The Atlanta Rollergirls league was founded in late 2004, and is more than sixty women strong, ranging in age from 21 to 40-something. We are a flat-track, all-female, quad-skate league, part of the D.I.Y. roller derby revival and revolution that began when our sisters in Texas began competing in 2001. Across the United States, many all-girl (skater-owned and skater-operated) leagues have formed in the past four years, taking the country and the media by storm, with recent articles in Newsweek, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and an interview on CNN's Now with Paula Zahn.
This new generation of aggressive female athletes are reviving the hard-hitting, bad-girl sport of eight-wheel roller derby that was popular from the 1930's through the 1970s. Today's leagues are updating the sport with an edgier attitude and the addition of a few modern touches like tattooed team members, sassy uniforms and cheeky penalties for a crowd-pleasing fierce competition that's rougher and tougher than ever! We strive for a crowd-pleasing mix of sport and spectacle, but our competitions are not staged, the outcomes are not fixed, and our falls and spills are the real deal.
