Glynis Morgan

Glynis Morgan - Celtic Harp/ voice

About Me

Started on the south West England folk scene at an early age, playing guitar and singing traditional English songs. Later got into early music, played recorders and taught renaissance dancing, also called for ceilidh bands. For the last few years I've been playing the celtic harp, and singing both traditional and my own material. My album 'the Lark in the Clear Air' was made in Plymouth UK in 2004, and features a fairly standard selection of celtic tunes. Am hoping to make another album soon with voice, harp and other instruments - hopefully more in the mediaeval/renaissance genre. My real wish is to perform mediaeval/renaissance music as well as folk - just havent met the right people to perform with - in my area there's not much of that sort of scene

Influences: The types of music I like are mediaeval, renaissance, traditional folk, world music, pagan, goth, choral music from Perotin to Arvo Part - some performers I admire are Loreena Mc Kennitt, Mediaeval Baebes, Corvus Corax, Within Temptation, Helium Vola, Arcanta, Arcana, Tristania, Daemonia Nymphae, Hesperion XX, Anonymous 4, Hilliard Ensemble, Dark Sanctuary, Tori Amos, Connie Dover, Mila Mar,Modus Virens and many more.. Also admire harpists - Robin Williamson, Alan Stivell, and all celtic and gothic harp players Tracks on this page are very standard celtic stuff, much as I like this, I would prefer to be doing something a little more unusual ....[maybe soon...]Am into gnostic/pagan/Pythagorean/ Celtic Christian spirituality - these do not clash in my way of thinking
Sounds Like: Someone [self taught!] playing the celtic harp........
