DOL AMROTH - CULT AS HELL!

About Me

Dol Amroth started as an epic black metal act initially formed in the township of Patras, Greece, in the winter of 1999 by Prince Imrahil (a.k.a Marios Koutsoukos) as a solo keyboards and vocals project that would create epic / atmospheric soundscapes inspired by J.R.R Tolkiens Middle Earth mythos. Dol Amroth begun from a most absurd and minimalist basis of creation, producing four demo tapes within the year 2000 [Demo I Odes from Belfalas, Demo II Swords of the Numenor, Demo III Elven brew, Demo IV Anthems to eternity]. Sometime near the end of that very year came two hour-long demo CDs [Demo CD I - Elvenhearts arise, Demo CD II - Where in honour the Elvenking wars]. Throughout this course, Prince Imrahil remained the only artistic force behind Dol Amroth, even though on occasion there would appear performances from various guest musicians. In 2001 Prince Imrahil moves to Athens, Greece, and the legendary Minas Ithil home studio is founded, providing an entire universe of new technical aspects and possibilities for the act. Sin (a.k.a Cindy LaHue), a female singer from the U.S.A, joins the act. In the winter of that same year, the first full-length cassette album is released and thus starts the acts current discography course [as seen on the official Dol Amroth website]. However, in the spring of 2002 Sin has to leave the country and thus abandons the band. Prince Imrahil finds himself alone once again but does not give up. Another full length cassette album is released in the summer of that year. There follows a brief period of auditions in order to fully man the acts line-up. At the end of the summer, Antistita Lacrimae (a.k.a Zefi Hatziperi) joins Dol Amroth as female vocalist and acoustic guitar player. Shean Elegian Devynd becomes the anointed drummer and electric guitarist. Artemiodorus Cantor (a.k.a Kostas Manias) lends his inspiration in musical compositions and strengthens the backing vocals of the choir. And thus, Dol Amroth venture forth stronger than ever before and start recordings for yet another cassette album. On New Years Eve an MCD is released as a teaser for the upcoming album and later on, in mid-January 2003, the actual cassette album swiftly follows.Alas, the unity of Dol Amroths newfound line-up would not last. Prince Imrahil is left on his own yet again, for reasons personal and technical alike. Still, even that could not daunt the acts productivity. New members are quickly initiated: Depressive667 (a.k.a Nikos Nezeritis) on electric guitars and additional keyboards and Beast (a.k.a Stefanos Koutsoukos) on electric bass. In the winter of 2003 Dol Amroth release a new CD album, by far the most aggressive work in the acts annals.Amazed by Depressive667's musical talent and ability, Prince Imrahil presents him with the task of orchestrating and playing Dol Amroths keyboard parts as well. Long recordings begin anon for another CD album. Just to kill time, in the winter of 2004 Dol Amroth release another MCD, featuring rare recordings from their past. It becomes an instant hit single amongst the underground circles. In the wake of the new CD album, a CD single is soon released, featuring brand new compositions from the upcoming album as well as a unique homemade video clip that captures the essence of Dol Amroths newfound chilled groove. In early 2005 the acts most inspired oeuvre ever is released.Soon afterwards, Prince Imrahil decided to take a break from the usual Dol Amroth routine and record an album entirely on his own. He has been known to do weird shit like that from time to time... This resulted in an MC release almost a year later, featuring an outstanding duet of guest female vocalists - Hildr Valkyrie and Viky. With the unity of their line-up strong as a fist, Dol Amroth march on to this day, always working on something new, eager to redefine the term "cult"...Dol Amroth are proud members of Folkearth, contributing music, lyrics and their good-looking mugs for the booklet!

Sounds Like: Nothing you've heard before! Our sound is definitely unique, but it's up to you to decide if that's a good thing or not... In general, it's not our style to confine ourselves to a single soundscape. We experiment a lot with different moods, instruments, song structures and the such. Being an underground legend gives you that kind of freedom... Some get the money, others get the fame and the girls. We get the avant garde artistic freedom! That's not too lame, is it?
