Band History
1977... Drawing upon the sounds of the Stooges and New York dolls, a 16 year old DAVE KUSWORTH forms TV EYE- Prime movers on Birmingham’s Punk Rock Scene, they share a rhythm section - EAMONN DUFFY and DAVE TWIST - with THE PREFECTS - a band well regarded by many, including Jon Savage, John Peel and Paul Morley. Duffy and Twist perform the same role today in The Dave Kusworth Group.
1979... Kusworth and Twist lure STEPHEN DUFFY (THE LILAC TIME) away from a fledgling DURAN DURAN to form THE HAWKS. A single is released, the band make local TV appearances and are entertained by several major A&R departments. However, Rock ’n’ Roll has temporarily fallen from critical and commercial grace and the band are ultimately passed over by the wider industry. Their ’BIG STORE’ has since been covered by THE JACOBITES and, in 2005, was recorded by New York singer-songwriter SPIKE PRIGGEN, backed, to the bands delight, by members of THE VOIDOIDS and CHEAP TRICK.
1983... Having contributed to the first solo recordings of SWELL MAP NIKKI SUDDEN, Dave is engaged by THE DOGS D’AMOUR as lead guitarist on their first european tour and throughout their debut album ’THE STATE WE’RE IN’. Latter-day Dog and former CRYBABY, UK SUB and IAN HUNTER BAND member DARREL BATH completes the line up of the DAVE KUSWORTH GROUP. THE JACOBITES, Dave’s longstanding partnership with NIKKI SUDDEN have carried his name and reputation to the United States where his songwriting has been feted by TOM WAITS, PETER BUCK and CHUCK PROPHET and his songs covered by EVAN DANDI AND MERCURY REV.
THE JACOBITES have continued to tour Europe, the UK and in the United States. They have released albums for a variety of labels- BOMP!, TRIDENT, GLITTERHOUSE and SECRETLY CANADIAN. Dave maintained a parallel career as a solo artist and as a leader of his own band THE BOUNTY HUNTERS. CREATION RECORDS released THREADS by THE BOUNTY HUNTERS in 1989, and followed this with solo releasesALL THE HEARTBREAK STORIES and first career overview CHAMPAIGN EYES, LEMONADE POCKETS in the 90’s Re-united with TV EYE and HAWKS drummer Dave Twist in THE TENDERHOOKS, Dave released Glam era homage ENGLISH DISCO in 2001, LIKE WONDERLAND AVENUE IN A COLD CLIMATE, 2004, saw the arrival of Darrel Bath on guitar. With the return of Eamonn Duffy at the years end, the new line-up, THE DAVE KUSWORTH GROUP, made their debut in Oslo, Norway at Christmas. Followng visits to France, Germany, The Ukraine, Belgium, Austria, and Greece all in the past few months THE DAVE KUSWORTH GROUP spent April and May 2005 at Woodbine Studios in Leamington Spa recording their new album SILVER BLADES.

Sounds Like: "The guitars are loud, deliberate and raw, sometimes spare and sweet, he deserves success of course."
Jeff Pike, reflex, USA

"Dave's voice is one of the purest in Rock 'n' Roll."
Nina Antonia, biographer- Johnny Thunders, New York Dolls, Peter Perrett, Brett Smiley

"Kusworth's songs, vignettes of rape, murder and desolation, brilliantly transmit a Dickensian pallor to the subways and corner shops of Birmingham."
Robin Gibson

"Ringing guitars with an upfront, punkish approach to matters of the heart."
Ian Cranna, Q

"He's mine and Alan McGee's and Bobby Gillespie's favourite songwriter and he has never really had much recognition. If you ask some American bands, they'll say 'Oh, dave Kusworth, he's brilliant!'
Joe Foster, Co-founder, Creation records, NME

"Classic English rock with guitars in the tradition of Ron Wood and Mick Ronson. It's clear that Dave has found a fine band and the perfect setting for his songs"
Max Decharne, MOJO, 2004
