About Me

As the administrator of this page, I have to ad that Nikki died on the 26th of March 2006. All the following texts were written by Nikki and have not been changed:
I was born at 8 o'clock in the morning on the outskirts of London on 19 July. My brother, Epic, entered the world on 23 March a couple of years on down the road - the day of his birth is my first real memory. Our parents moved to Solhull, six miles south of Birmingham when I was eight and that was where Epic and I met David Barrington who was to become Phones Sportsman during Sunday School at the Gospel Hall on Poplar Road. Despite the three of us attending different schools we stayed friends through the coming years.
After hearing Jeepster and Telegram Sam by T.Rex I bought my first guitar. Dave got one the next week and Epic decided he wanted to play the drums. Three school friends joined in and our band became Swell Maps. We made our first single in September 1977 and released another three 45s and two albums before breaking up.
I went solo and put out two albums before forming the Jacobites with Dave Kusworth in 1983. We made two LPs then split. Dave put together The Bounty Hunters while I carried on with my solo career. I made six more LPs before Dave and I reformed the band in the early nineties. We recorded another handful of albums. Nowadays we both have our own bands and make solo albums. I moved from England to Berlin, Germany in 1996 and that has been my base ever since. Dave Kusworth And His Group - Dave Twist on drums and Eammon Duffy on bass are one of the best rock'n roll bands I have ever seen!
Work is almost finished on the follow up to Treasure Island, with John Barry, Danny Hole, Darrell Bath and Einar Stenseng. Dave and I have a bunch of songs ready and wiling and able and plan to record the next Jacobites LP during the first months of 2006. In an average year (not that I have many of those) I play one hundred gigs - fifty solo and fifty with my band. Life rolls on. My new album, The Truth Doesn't Matter, will be released in Europe and the States in April.
