My greatest interest is living a life that honors God; I freely confess that I fall short every day. Fortunately, He is patient and merciful and has paid my debt in full. I enjoy studying the Bible and praising God.
Some of my other interests are chess, reading and games that involve strategy (like Age of Empires, Settlers, blah, blah, blah, blah).
I suppose this is where I should mention java. I really, really, REALLY love a good cup of coffee. Few things in life can match the exquisite pleasure of an excellent latte, or compare to the rich, robust taste of a good espresso ... mmmmmm.....
I'm always happy to make new friends! Anybody who loves the Lord or who seeks spiritual truth has found a kindred soul as I am on that path as well. Won't you join me in the Way?

The quiz posted below was a lot of fun, take a look at it and enjoy yourselves. I was a bit alarmed at scoring 50% in the emergent/post-modern category, but I found great relief (phew) to discover that I'm not a heretic (see below). :-)
You scored as Reformed Evangelical, You are a Reformed Evangelical. You take the Bible very seriously because it is God's Word. You most likely hold to TULIP and are sceptical about the possibilities of universal atonement or resistible grace. The most important thing the Church can do is make sure people hear how they can go to heaven when they die.

Here's another theological quiz you might enjoy. Most of these "ism"s don't mean anything to me, but it's good to know that I'm not a heretic!

I grew up on classic rock - bands like Led Zeppelin, Rush, Styx and Floyd. While I still like the classic rock sound, raucous yet melodious guitar riffs set to bluesy bass rhythms, I do not find myself listening to it much these days. The LORD is my song now, and I enjoy listening to bands that make Him their song as I have done. God is awesome and worthy of all praise!
There are some pretty good Christian rock bands out there, but my favorite is a group called Lamb. They're actually more like folk than rock (I guess I'm getting old) and they're Messianic Jews. There's something about their sound that I love, though I can't define it, or even put my finger on it. It does what all good music should do though - it stirs my soul.
And I'll always enjoy good guitar - check this out:
There are probably two movies that compete for the position of "my all-time favorites": first was "Rain Man" with Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise, and then came "Forrest Gump". These are both in a class by themselves, in my opinion.
I'm also always up for a decent action flick, like a good Chuck Norris or Van Damme movie. I like some of the stuff in the Sci-Fi genre as well and enjoy an occasional comedy as long as it's not raunchy.

Though I don't watch much TV, I'm a pretty big fan of "Stargate SG-1". About the only other shows that I watch fairly regularly are "Way of the Master", with Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort, and "Zola Levitt Presents".
Occasionally, the History channel broadcasts programs that interest me and I enjoyed Animal Planet when I had that.
Oh, and football, did I mention football? Go Rams! Go Blue!
By far, the greatest treasure in print is the Holy Bible; within its pages the God of creation teaches us how we can come to know Him. He shows us what He is like and even shows us what we are like - He knows us better than we know ourselves, and according to Jesus, even has the hairs on our heads numbered. Isn't that amazing?
By His Spirit, the prophets and apostles have spoken; they paint a picture of His glory and majesty. By His Spirit, He has made known to us the Way to eternal life. He gives freely to all who come to Him through the atoning blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
"But what does it say? "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART"--that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, "WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED." For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED." (Rom 10:8-13 NASB)
His Word is truth.
He "who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death--even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father".
This passage, from Philippians 2:7-11, speaks of course of Jesus Christ who is much more than my hero - He is my Savior ... my Lord and my God!
When I read the book of Acts, I see other heroes as well. One of my favorites is the Apostle Paul. He was an affluent Pharisee who had a very powerful encounter with the glorified Jesus Christ (after His resurrection and ascension into heaven). From that point on he lived his life SOLD OUT to Jesus! God's grace and mercy for him changed him in a major way. What he once opposed, he now gave his entire being to. He became the apostle to the nations. He wrote:
But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
(Php 3:7-12 NIV)
This noble devotion to Christ is what I hope to attain ... it is my prayer and my life key verses.
My modern day heroes are all those who have left families, who go without food and drink, who brave harsh weather, who face intense persecution, imprisonment, beatings, and even death for the sake of the good news about Jesus Christ.
