About Me

My Church:
Fast Facts: I just finished a BA in Christian Ministries, continuing (Lord willing) for a Master of Divinity. I’m the youth minister for Calvary Chapel Gateway . I'm also happily married with three great kids. I have several pictures in my photo albums on the left of this page that you are free to browse.
My passion is to teach Christians and non-Christians about the grace of God that comes through Jesus Christ, by His Holy Spirit, through our obedience to the Gospel. The Gospel is salvation to all who are actively believing (Rom 1:16). We all thirst for the water of God, but too often we settle for rancid water of this world. We must discover and rediscover the good news of the Gospel, and begin to cultivate an all-surpassing love for Him.
I’m also an aspiring (read: "wannabe") writer who wants to share with you this wonderful water of life I've been drawing from the wellspring of Scripture. Please browse some of my blogs above this block, and if you are interested, be sure to SubscribE to my blog. I hope you will be blessed.

For skeptics, those who wonder why I believe the Christian message, I offer this link . I didn't write this, but I couldn't have done a better job, and I am in full agreement with the author. Feel free to drop me (or him) a line if you have any questions!
Shaun's Markings
As I said, I am an aspiring writer. Visiting my blog above reveals some of my theological writings. Other copy is available at my writing web page: www.markings.bravehost.com/ . Feel free to contact me here at MySpace or email me at [email protected] to get a quote for freelance services.
Also, see my profile on the Magazine of Santa Clarita .
What I Believe
It is growing increasingly insufficient to describe one's beliefs as "Christian" because modern churches have departed so far from orthodoxy and doctrine as to destroy any distinctive of belief.
So, if you want to know more about my beliefs than the superficial label "Christian," click here .
And, of course, no belief system is defined without a couple of MySpace quizzes! Here is how I scored in my theological worldview:

You scored as Reformed Evangelical
You are a Reformed Evangelical. You take the Bible very seriously because it is God's Word. You most likely hold to TULIP and are sceptical about the possibilities of universal atonement or resistible grace. The most important thing the Church can do is make sure people hear how they can go to heaven when they die.

Music:

I'm eclectic, so anything from classical to jazz, rock to country, as long as its not raunchy and is decent. For that reason, I normally stick with Christian artists, of whom cover the spectrum I mentioned. Delirious? is one of my favs, though there are many others...This list is just an example. If it doesn't work, try launching the standalone player.

Radio
Well, this isn't music, but here's a list of radio shows I podcast.
o 66/40 with Chuck Missler
o Desiring God with John Piper
o Dividing Line with James White
o Grace to You with John MacArthur
o Let My People Think with Ravi Zacharias
o Renewing Your Mind with R. C. Sproul
o Steve Brown, Etc. with Steve Brown
o Way of the Master Radio with Todd Friel
o White Horse Inn with Michael Horton

Movies:

Again, I like a wide range of genres, from old TCM classics to modern comedy, action, and sci-fi. The one thing I ask is that it have a well-developed plot and characters... mindless eye-candy doesn't really do it for me. Though, eye-candy is the topping to a great film sundae! Comedies are allowed to be mindless, however - as long as it doesn't become decadent in its humor.

Television:

24, 7th Heaven, Andy Griffith, Dr. Who, Everybody Loves Raymond, Flip This House, Ghost Hunters (TAPS), Heroes, Journeyman, Lost, Simpsons, Smallville, Spongebob Squarepants, Star Trek, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, Way of the Master

Books:

Well, the Bible is God's communication with man - how can you top that Author?
View Passage of the DayBesides that, here are a few others. I may be missing someone, and I have more authors on my shelves than these fine folks, but here are some individuals who have helped shape my thinking on a number of topics. I have a few books listed, but I’ve read several works from most of these people that have impacted me in some spiritual way.o Jay Adams
o Greg Bahnsen
o Jerry Bridges
o D.A. Carson
o R. Scott Clark
o Jonathan Edwards (Religious Affections)
o Norman Geisler
o Wayne Grudem
o Michael Horton
o Tim LaHaye (Left Behind, excellent fictionalization of the eschatological scenario)
o David Jeremiah
o C.S. Lewis
o John MacArthur
o Steve McVey
o John Morris
o Chuck Missler
o Ronald Nash
o Watchman Nee
o J.I. Packer
o Nancy Pearcey (Total Truth)
o John Piper
o Leland Ryken
o Francis Schaeffer
o James Sire
o R.C. Sproul
o Lee Stroble (ed., Case for the Faith; ed., Case for Christ)
o James R. White

Heroes:

Besides the obvious answer (Jesus Christ), I'm really falling in love with the saints of old. Jonathan Edwards and I seem to have a few things in common (though he was much brighter than I); Luther and Calvin and many other Reformers for their bravery and commitment to biblical literacy and authority; many moderns like C. S. Lewis who struggled so long with the existence and nature of God and Francis Schaeffer, who has challenged my thinking in so many ways... I could go on and on.I'd also have to give hero kudos Heather: she's such an awesome chick and she puts up with me! She keeps me grounded, and just a great gal all the way around... and I'm not just saying that because I love her!
