More than a pure voice...

About Me

Born and raised in Southern California, Cheryl Gilbreath has been singing since she was a toddler. Her versatile soprano vocal ability can accommodate just about any musical genre from Gospel and Classical to Pop, R&B and Jazz. Her influences include Whitney Houston, Kathleen Battle, Yolanda Adams, and Natalie Cole.
Cheryl has been performing for various church, school, and other community events since she was able to talk. She also enjoys performing with smooth jazz saxophonist, Ray Silkman in Chicago. In summer 2005, Ray said, “Cheryl is just too good, and I cannot wait for her to get into this business full-time.
Since moving to Washington DC and attending Howard University, Cheryl practiced for eight years under the invaluable training of the late music director, Arphelius Paul Gatling, III. She is an alumna of the original Howard Gospel Choir and currently sings as soprano soloist with the Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel Choir. Services are broadcast on WHUR-96.3-FM radio of Washington DC each Sunday at 11am.
Cheryl’s debut full-length album is underway for release in fall 2007 by MVW Music. Cheryl's original works, "Last Night" and "Brand New Day" are produced by platinum credited producer Dinky Bingham – he has worked with Chaka Khan, Patti Labelle, and Kindred Family Soul. “Brand New Day is also the theme song for an inspirational lifestyle and weight loss company, Eat Well-Be Active (EWBA).
Her outstanding stage presence is increasingly developing with noteworthy experiences such as performing "Harlem Blues" for Spike Lee, and singing "Lift Every Voice and Sing" at Howard’s Homecoming Step Show with an audience of over 6000. She has performed at the John F. Kennedy Center of Washington DC as well as venues in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, St. Thomas of the Virgin Islands, and Jamaica. One of her proudest engagements was her rendition of “Star Spangled Banner for a national gala honoring former President William Clinton.
Cheryl aims to continue performing for a wide variety of audiences. Eager to celebrate God's gift blessing, Cheryl welcomes any invitation and every challenge to grow spiritually and musically.
“I want to share my gift with anyone and everyone who can listen, and I believe that singing just one genre of music would be limiting. As long as the message is real and positive, I will definitely give my all.
