In search of personal fulfillment is a quest Douglas Willett has uncovered since relocating to Greensboro, NC in 1990. He was placed and raised in foster care at the age of 2 in Providence Kentucky. But however he was determined not to adversity win. Thirteen years later, during his first church solo in Kentucky. Willett first experienced his Gospel Roots and ability to touch the hearts and souls of his listeners by taking personal experiences transcending them into memorable moments for everyone even himself.His style and music can be paired with Earth Wind & Fires inspirational value, self healing, and love. Vocally he can be compared to Brian McKnight, Johnny Gill, and Fred Hammonds. His writing skills are developing everyday through life experiences being around people and listening. He compares his writing to India.Arie, Kirk Franklin,Fred Hammond and Norah Jones to name a few. Willett said," My melodies come from listening to all Jazz genre's and being alert to unique pitches in my surroundings.Currently Douglas is studying Entertainment Law he would like to own his own music publishing co and pitch his songs to various artist. Over the past ten years he's been studying voice and 3 years of music theory with his private music instructor. He enrolled at UNCGreensboro to study Creative Writing to enhance his writting skills . This he feels will give him the elements and foundation needed to secure a professional career in music. His accomplishments include a featured soloist for the Greensboro Orchestra Symphony.His first single "Candlelit For You" was selected as a finalist for the(ISC) International Songwriting Competion in Nashville Tenn. The single is in regular rotation with local radio stations. In addition Douglas also made it as a finalist for the (TJMS) Tom Joyner Morning Show Big Break. His upcoming single entitled, "Move On," was selected as the theme song for a dramatic play in North Carolina. Another one of Douglas accomplishments was being selected by (BMI) as a finalist for The Donald Lawrence Songwriting Contest & He has also sang background for Richard Smallwood. Recently he was added to B.E.T.COM YAHEARD ARTIST.And was selected to audition for the N.B.C. show Americas Got Talent.Douglas recently was the opening act for THE 2008 BLACK ENTERPRISE CONFERENCE hosted by (GM) the headliner was Kirk Franklin.When asked what sets him apart from other solo artists Willett replies, " I challenge myself to write a song in any setting at any time and make it conversational".He will continue to pursue his career as a Singer and Songwriter, Performer, and Recording artist and continue to build relationships with genuine artists and business partners that are serious about their kraft."I want to THANK YOU for visiting my page and listening to my songs so feel free to make any comments of your likes and dislikes.
