A lot of people recognize me from Wes Anderson and Steven Spielberg films I've been in (The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore, Bottle Rocket, The Terminal). But not many people know my history in showbusiness, yoga and entertaining. I used to open for the Rat Pack in Vegas back in the 50's with my plate spinning and balancing act. I've performed my routine all over the world (India, Africa, Japan, USA, Europe). I was even on television shows like Captain Kangaroo and The Mickey Mouse Club. I took a break from the spotlight and moved to Dallas, Texas where I raised my two children and ran a cafe / yoga studio with my son, Dipak (he was the doctor in Royal Tenenbaums, math professor in Rushmore and the bookstore clerk in Bottle Rocket). Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson were regulars at the cafe and we all became good friends. From there, they asked me to be in a lot of their movies.
Sometime in the middle of doing all these movies, I met Dave Brown and we became very close friends. Dave runs a creative company called Holiday Matinee and approached me on doing a documentary show that would take my old act back to the stage. He really wanted people to see that there is a lot more to me than just acting. The idea was for him and I to hit the road with some of the bands he works with and film everything both on and off the stage. So that's what we're doing and it's incredibly fun. I get to perform all over the place, hit on waitresses in coffee shops, connect with young people and even teach a few hollywood bigshots how to do Yoga properly.
