Turku Romantic Movement is a Finnish rock band which started from the funeral of their Finnish version Turun Romantiikka on their last gig in Riemufestivaali, Helsinki January 27, 2006. The line-up is the same, but the language has changed.
The band has released three albums in Finnish: Ajatus on kapinaa (Thinking Is Rebellion) in 2002, Metamorfoosi (Metamorphosis) in 2003 and Rock’n’rollin viimeiset dandyt (The Last Dandies of Rock ‘n’ Roll) in 2005; two cd-singles and one vinyl single. They have played over 120 gigs all around Finland and gained a reputation as an ultra energetic live band. Their musical style varies from aggressive guitar rock to Scandinavian melancholy. Their lyrics are polemical and socially aware.
Turku Romantic Movement’s first release in English was a split vinyl with Canadian rocker Neil Leyton and it was published in May in Finland and in July in England by Fading Ways Finland. The vinyl includes the songs "Animals" and "Generation Updated".
The band did their first European tour in March and April of 2006 in Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Germany and Sweden. They went back to Slovenia in August and played one festival gig and one acoustic.
In November 2006 TRM released EP Rock, Rhythm & Revolution! including three new studio tracks and three grooving live tracks from the Stockholm gig in April 9, 2006. Currently they are at the studio recording their forthcoming album Noise & Confusion which is due out in April 11, 2007.
Join the revolution, mutha!
