About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !
So, who are we looking for?We want to prove that “gay is not a stereotype.” So, we’re looking for all types of guys. Seriously. Okay, so you probably think you need a pink boa and attitude to sport a sash competitively, but really we’re in search of everyday guys from gym-bunny to math geek with a passion to lead.Sure six-packs are hot, but so are great smiles, sparkling personalities and funny, down-to-earth guys. We get dozens of applications from guys with headshots who are fast on their way to being the bitchy gay guy on reality TV.What we’re really looking for are the future leaders of the gay community. You don’t have to be up on a float in the gay pride parade in a pair of speedos and body glitter to stand out in our eyes. We like regular guys who want to make a contribution by being outstanding in whatever they do in their everyday life—the unassuming average Joe who just may be spectacular precisely because he will inevitably say, “this is not my thing.”The Mr. Gay Competition is especially concerned with gay men being viewed as the “other,” as outsiders to the rest of the world. Humans have a natural propensity to distrust “the other” and tend to project negative feelings away from themselves. The press has easily established the ‘gay stereotype’ – quickly, think of what it is in your mind – and we know that limited image does not represent all of us.We have for too long allowed society, especially the press, to label us only by our extremes, painting ‘us’ as the ‘other’ and, thereby, pitting us against ‘them.’ We seek guys who don’t shout-out their membership in the ‘other’ groups or provide easy targets for society’s hatred. Our activism is much more subtle. We seek a non-stereotypical gay man.We feel that gay men who excel at school, sports, the arts, or in their careers demonstrate to the world the ability and humanity of gay men. Sure our competitions go down at Hamburger Mary’s, but our contestants excel in their everyday lives beyond the gayborhood. They are Mr. Gays because already they have unknowingly established themselves as a face of the gay community to the rest of the world. The winner of the LA City Finals will go on to the USA Mr. Gay Competition where guys from over 20 American Cities will compete for the title of USA Mr. Gay. This all goes down in Hollywood this fall. If you think you’ve got what it takes and want to make a contribution to the gay community, then get in touch today!(USA Winner will compete for the title of International Mr. Gay in January 2008.)LA Finals will take place in August at a yet to be determined location in the heart of Hollywood. (Will make the announcement when it's official.)IN Magazine is our media sponsor and will offer paying marketing gigs to contestants.Requirements for Qualified Delegates-The Contestant must be 18 years of age by the date of the Competition;-The Contestant must self-identify as a gay or bi-sexual male and sign a Release Form that assigns rights to all images including film of his participation in the contest series to Community Promotions;-The Delegate has not participated in pornography or advertised as an escort in the past and agrees to not participate in porn or escort services during the term of any title he wins in the contest series.-The Delegate is not currently in open criminal proceedings, on felony probation and does not have a felony record. Please send your information, resume, biography and any pics to John Michael Beck, Producer. For more info: www.myspace.com/lamrgay, www.mrgaycompetition.com
