Haunted Echo

Question The Future

About Me

"I'm haunted by the hallway and this tiny room, the echo there of me and you; voices that are carrying this tune..." - Poe
Haunted Echo (derived from the lyrics above) is the solo project from New York's producer/programmer, Kris "Halo" Pierce, who creates tracks with rich atmospheric textures and aural landscapes that are often described as "movie music."
Whether its an Industrial anthem or a chillout lounge excursion, one word describes Haunted Echo's music better than any other: Escapism. "Many people come back and tell me, 'It's so easy to get lost in my imagination when I listen to your music.' and that means I succeeded." Beneath the melancholy lies a bed of classical and contemporary music influence. One can hear conversations with Mozart, Nick Cave, and Rhys Fulber inside synths, moods, and layers of syncopating rhythms. The first and primary goal of Haunted Echo is to be as modern as possible while bridging the gap between genres. The second goal of Haunted Echo is to destroy the barriers of genre.
Haunted Echo first reared his head on the Cleopatra Records compilation, Black Sunshine: The Tampa Underground and Beyond , in 2001, which included not only three Haunted Echo tracks, but also included three tracks from Kris previous project Mind Static , with vocalist Wendi Hughes. Mind Static had been extremely successful during the Kris/Wendi years (1997-2001), with the Bjork/Danny Elfman influenced darkwave hit, Stillborn, and the epic trance piece, Nothing, which landed in the indie movie Web of Darkness. Frustrated with the confines of the genre, he followed up with a limited self-released album, Weaving A Liquid Dream, which detoured from the moodiness and carried a lighter, more dance oriented feel. From that album, the tracks Conscience Sedation and Weaving A Liquid Dream won huge internet support and landed in the Canadian indie film, Hosers. With his remix of the Watch The Men Fall track, A New Suicide, and the inclusion of both WTMF and HE material on the Bands United compilation, Kris became an internationally recognized producer. Two years later, his remix of Kelis Milkshake won support from UltimateKelis.com, as well as garnering over 20,000 downloads in six months. Tired of the Floridian scene, he packed up his bags and moved to New York City (after detouring to Arizona for eight months to record his latest album, Klopfgeist, this time featuring several tunes with Kris on the mic). Klopfgeist shows Kris returning to his darker music roots on the vocal tracks, while the instrumentals foray into lounge and chillout.
2005 saw him working with HIM, Bizzy Bone, Paula Cole, and a slew of indies. 2006 saw him topping the national college Hip-Hop charts with the charismatic MC, Big Meg, producing "Sweet Radio" and "Africa Welcomes You" for the South African super group, Mikanic , the internationally acclaimed blackgrass album, "Head Home", for insanely talented misfits known as O'Death , and single handedly developing the rock band, Decembers Fall, into a Myspace phenomenon, proving his talent through diversity.
