My muse is no longer fickle and elusive

About Me

I got my first guitar at a garage sale for thirty-five dollars when I was thirteen, and spent the next few months in my bedroom learning chords that were written out on a napkin by a friend's dad. Singing soon came as a natural accompaniment. When I got my first three chords down, I wrote a song called "Top of a Hill" which won first place in my highschool talent show...which blew my mind.

Besides playing open mic night at the New Orleans Coffee House in highschool, I didn't really start performing until college...although I didn't 'gig' with any consistancy until I met my future drummer, Rod Pike, at the Red Cup coffee house a few years later. After a few jam sessions, he started inviting others to play until one stuck. So it was Rod and I and then, guitarist, Kevin Kelley. We asked him to put his feelers out for a bassist. Which is how we met Bill Thompson. We named ourselves "Deep Seed" for about a month before becoming "Amber Wind Society".
It was a great combination, but Kevin didn't stay that long. Last I heard, he's out in L.A. doing quite well with the music. Then came Dorian Small. Man, he rocked. He didn't stay long either. Then Michael Stone and Ryan Siler...then John Shaw. After the last one left, we sort of dissolved. I had other things I needed to tend to which took me away from music all together, but after a year and a half, I started getting the itch again. Our latest percussionist, Kait Brown, sort of put the bug back in me.
I love playing with the band (which has re-grouped), but I love stripping it all down to me and my guitar... it keeps things simple.

Trading Songs for Stones

I love hauling my guitar around on strolls through strange cities...I always end up with a tale or two.  In Amsterdam I jammed with a sax player in the pass-through of the Reijk's Museu...

It's been a while...

I haven't felt this creative flow in quite a while...it's more of a surge, really.  Songs are beginning to FLOW.  I've been gathering inspiration for long enough...two years...too long. ...

I'M TAKING THIS AS A SIGN!

I've been rather wishy-washy about my music lately. I haven't been pursuing it like I should, but since I turned 30, I've been re-assesing things. I haven't been taking any of my creative endeavors...
