I am currently attempting my fourth try at graduate school. I was orginally enrolled for Internationl Political Economy or an MBA, but I have decided to study something useful instead, Like gnostic scriptures, comparative mythology, and possibly ancient mystery cults. I also enjoy reading about mythology, sci-fi, and fantasy. (SURPRISE!)
I am here out of pure peer pressure. Very pathetic at 32 if you ask me.
Most of my cd's are classical movie scores, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Excalibur, Serenity are a few of my favorites. Bands I am currently listening to: Flame Trick Subs, Dead Can Dance, Misfits, Pixies. I listen to a lot of other stuff, but this is what is in the cd player currently.
Lord of the Rings trilogy, Serenity and Firefly (ROCKS!!!), Star Wars, Battle Star Galactica, Army of Darkness, Ninth Gate, Desperate Teenage Love Dolls (SUCK!), Aliens, Forbidden Planet, Indiana JonesThe Lord of the Rings and Serenity (Firefly) movies, have had the most impact on me as a person. As a kid, it was definitely Star Wars.
I don't watch TV.
I am now reading the Nag Hammadi Library, edited by James M Robinson. It is a great source about the Gnostics.I just got done with the first five books of the Amber series by Roger Zelazney, and I highly encourage you to read it also. An original idea with a good sense of mystery. Great Stuff. Carl Jung's Seven Sermons of the Dead, this book has changed my life, and I highly recomend it. I have also finished Elaine Pagel's the Gnostic Gospels and the Book of Thomas.A Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin, Also anything written by HP Lovecraft, Robert Howard, Glen Cook, and Steven Brust.
The thousands that were burned at the stake, to prove that their is more than one way. Also, Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung, without their wisdom I would still be stumbling in the darkness.
