About Me

Karma is the law of action and reaction at work in the moral universe. Every THOUGHT, WORD, and ACTION produces an effect that rebounds on the person who generated it. KARMANAUTIC FROM THE COSMIC OCEAN One of the most ambiguous of all flower symbols, the LILY is identified with Christian piety, purity and innocence, but was associated with fertility and erotic love in older traditions through its phallic pistil and scent. It symbolized the fertility of the Earth Goddess.
Symbolism seeks to give form to the intangible. Nowhere is this more true than in magic, ritual and religion-the attempts to different societies to communicate with the supernatural forces presumed to lie behind the visible world. The history of symbolism shows a slow movement away from the idea that humans are collectively at the mercy of fickle gods. As societies have become more sophisticated, artists and religious symbolism have increasingly dramatized human choice in a dualistic universe of light and dark, good and evil, salvation and damnation, virtue and vice. This view of the world as a battleground with every principle set against its opposite was based on observations of dichotomies both on the natural world and in human nature itself. This can be seen at its simplest level in the recurrent symbolism of twins, one good, the other evil, as in many myths. Set against it was the hope of a spiritual equilibrium. He is one of the eight terrible deities of the Buddhist pantheon with ornaments of snakes, canine teeth, and dressed in tiger skin skirt. He is dark blue or purple in color. He is the defender of law, he is given a good position at the entrance doors of Buddhist Shrines.A snaggle-toother old woman returnd with Chrysis. drawing from her bosom a wreath of many colors, she bound my neck with it. Then, mixing dust with her saliva, she dipped her finger in it and marked my mons pubis. "Come to life, oh flaming spirit," she sung softly, coaxing the member awake; "Sleep refreshes, now awake; come to life, the sleep is over; so refreshed now, bright awake." Looking skyward, she continued: PRIAPUS, I ask you to exercise your heavenly powers and help the parts I touch make this altar smoke. The lazy warrior began to get his old ambition back and popped to a rigid position of attention. Titus Petronius Arbiter-SATIRICOM. Rome year 64 AD. Heaven is here, in us, and so is Hell. Bhagavata. HANUMAN The monkey God. He has the head and tail of a rhesus monkey, and the body of a man. He aided Rama, the hero of the RAMAYANA, to destroy Ravana, the ten headed demon king. He is often found in pictures with Sita and Rama. Sometimes you'll see him ripping open his chest to reveal Rama and Sita-God and Goddess-residing on his heart .He is especially venetated by princes and warriors. During the battle with Ravana's troops, Rama's brother Lakshman was seriously injured. Unless he could get a particular medicinal herb from a faraway mountain, the local physician explained, he would not be able to save Lakshman's life. Seeing Rama's grief, Hanuman instantly raced to the mountain, covering huge distances in single leaps and bounds. But once he got there, Hanuman realized he had no idea which of the many herbs growing on the mountain was the one the doctor needed. So he picked up the entire mountain and brought it back to the battlefield! Lakshman's life was saved and Rama clasped Hanuman in a famous embrace of gratitude.Hanuman teaches us that when loving and serving God is the focus of our lives, the impossible becomes possible. CHHEPU Chhepu is one among the three brothers Garuda, Chhepu and Hitimanga. It is told that once the mother of these brothers, requested her husband to give birth of such a son who would be the bravest, most truthful and entitled with all superior marks. Her husband told her to wait for a certain period. She being impatience to wait for the rigth period, looked the nest whether he was born or not. She found Chhepu in a premature condition only with formation of the head. Due to his bravery, truthfulness and all superior marks, he was given the place at the top of the main entrance of the shrines for the protection from all the dangers. Nagas are the food of Chhepu. ************************** Ceramic Necklace of GODDESS COATLIECUEAztec Great Goddess of life, death, and rebirth. Androgynous mother of Quetzalcoatl. She wears a skirt of serpents and a necklace of hands, hearts and a skull; her head is a double serpent. She is the earth and the Pyramid. THE MAYA UNIVERSE The Maya Universe, here centered on a crocodilian in a cosmic sea. Each quarter of the earth was associated with a color; the center was a fifth direction. Four divine beings held up the dome of heaven, shown as a two headed snake whose body is a sky band of celestial symbols. It arches over the Moon Goddess-who holds the rabbit discerned in the moon's face-a skeletal Venus, and the Sun God. The star cluster Pleiades, is a ratlesnake tail. The creation of the Sun and Venus was explained by a tale of Hero twins who vied with the Lords of Death in a series of ball games; the victorious twins became those Celestial bodies. GARUDA (BANTEJ) Garuda is man bird. the mount of Vishnu. He is often found kneeling before Vishnu's Shrines. In the Buddhist Pantheon, he may serve as the vehicles for AMOGHSIDDHI. He is almost always represented as human, except for large wings which fold out from his shoulders. Some times he is represented with the head of a bird. When I was, God was not; now that God is, I am no more; yea, very strait the lane Of Love Divine, it has no room for two ! KABIR In a beginning, Vishnu is lying asleep on an ocean of milk. Vishnu's bed is an enormous cobra called Ananta, whose coils serve as his mattress and whose numerous hoods form a canopy over the slumbering deity. Vishnu's wife, the Goddess, who never sleeps, sits lovingly massaging his feet. In the course of Vishnu's dream, a lotus grows out of his navel, and lying there in the petals is a shiny golden egg. This egg will hatch into our solar system. Guiding the egg's development is Brahma. He is the mastermind behind our local universe. He shapes a Sun and a Moon and several planets from the debris of the last time the solar system formed. Finding people to inhabit this new world won't be hard either. There are plenty of souls left over from the last incarnation of the solar system. They've been sound asleep in their SUBTLE BODIES for eons, just like Vishnu. Once a physical planet is in place, Brahma will toss these souls back into physical bodies, so they can complete their unfinished business from previous lives. There are a number of problems Brahma needs to resolve before he can proceed, but he can't do it all himself. So he tries to wake up Vishnu. But Vishnu is dead asleep. At this point, Brahma turns to Vishnu's wife, the Goddess, and pleads,"YOU ARE THE SUPREME, PRIMEVAL POWER, THE LIMITLESS STORE OF ENERGY THAT CONTINUES TO EXIST EVEN AFTER THE MATERIAL WORLD FADES AWAY. YOU REMAIN ACTIVE EVEN WHEN GOD, THE PRIMORDIAL INTELLIGENCE, PASSES INTO AN UNCONSCIOUS STATE. HE SLEEPS ON THE SNAKE ANANTA, WHOSE NAME MEANS INFINITE TIME, WHO FLOATS IN THE MILKY OCEAN OF PRIMORDIAL MATTER. PLEASE REMOVE THE INERTIA FROM THE LORD'S AWARENESS, SO HE CAN WAKE UP!" Having been asked so nicely, the Goddess lift the veil of unconsciousness from the cosmic intelligence called Vishnu. Vishnu leaps up, refreshed and invigorated. He and Brahma set about cleaning out negative energies obstructing creation. PHAETHON The son of Helios, Phaethon insisted upon driving the SUN chariot for one day. Unable to control the great horses that pulled it, Phaethon plunged the chariot too near the earth, setting mountains on fire and parching the land. He was struck down by a lethal thunderbolt Zeus sent to save the earth. GANESH The "lord of HOSTS" Known throughout India and Nepal, Ganesh sometimes is an "ithyphalic God. In the Negesvara Temple at Kumbhakonam in India, he is depicted and worshipped in this aspect, with lingam erect and his hand touching the yoni of his divine partner, or Shakti. Among his major symbols are the CONCH SHELL and the LILY. HECATE The three-headed, six-armed Goddess of the darkside of the moon. With power to conjure dreams, phantoms and spirits of the dead, she became the symbol of black magic. Her haunting presence at graveyards and crossroads was marked by howling dogs and the incantation of witches. THE ASPARAS The Asparas are the nymphs of Indra's heaven. Though they are later known mostly for their dancing and singing, they began as water nymphs, and many still haunt rivers and holy pools. They are called the daughters of pleasure, for it is said that they were produced incidentally during the churning of the milk ocean and that despite their beauty neither gods nor asuras wanted them as wives; it was therefore decided that they should become the wives of all. Om, the mystic syllable of A-u-m is venerated by the Brahmans as well as by the Buddhist. The devotees regard it to be too sacred to be uttered aloud only formed by the lips. It is written that when all was void the triliteral syllable Aum became manifest. Adi Buddha at his will proceeded from Om. In that Aum, Adi Buddha who is present in all things formless and passionless, possesses the Tri-Ratna. It is also written that Adi Buddha became manifest in the great Sunyata (void) as the letter A. It is also written that when all was Sunyata, Prajna Devi was revealed out of Akasa with the letter 'U'. The Vija mantra of Sangha is 'M'. Thus the letters A-u-m are the vija mantra of Buddha. Dharma and Sangha V. Tri-Ratna. The mantra generally begins with Om and ends with hum. The most widely known mantra is six syllable one of Avalokiteswara 'Om Mani Padme Hum'. HADES The God of the dead and one of the twelve great Olympians. He rules the underworld which now bears his name. Hades, content in those melancholy surroundings, only left his kingdom twice. ****************************** BUDDHA Was Buddha an incarnation of Vishnu? Not according to Buddhists. But Hindus can make room for just about anyone in their religion, and even the renegade Indian guru Buddha found a place in their pantheon. Too many people were becoming enlightened by following Hinduism. To prevent the world from being depopulated, some Hindus say, Vishnu assumed the form of Buddha and misled millions into abandoning the Veda. Hindus believe Buddha was Vishnu at his most mischievous. NICARAGUAN CULTURE Nicaraguan culture could be described as one of the most authentic mestizo cultures in all of Latin America. While many define culture as either highbrow European culture or ethnic indigenous traditions, Nicaraguan culture is a blend of the two worlds, a mixture that has lived for many years outside of the big cultural blender called globalization. The most obvious effect of the preservation of Nicaraguan culture for the visitor is the Nicaragua people's warm hospitality and great kitchen. MOMBACHO VOLCANO Mombacho Volcano - long dormant, this cone shadows the colonial city of Granada and is home to a well kept cloud forest reserve and two popular canopy tours. A collapse of part of its main crater destroyed what was Granada's twin city on its south flank in the late 16th century. GRANADA Granada, Nicaragua, founded in 1524, is one of the oldest European settlements in the Americas. Granada was the economic capital of Nicaragua in colonial times, the scene of William Walker's failed attempt at North American re-colonization. Granada is now rapidly becoming famous on the world stage as the most important tourism destination in Nicaragua for its lake front beauty and splendid colonial homes View of Mombacho from Granada's cemetery. LAGUNA DE APOYO Nicaragua’s cleanest, bluest, and deepest swimming hole is this 48-square-kilometer body of water trapped inside the crater of the Apoyo Volcano. The deepest measured point (200 meters) is the lowest point in all of Central America. Its shores are easily accessible, and a remarkably small number of tourist facilities (and luxurious private homes) have been constructed at the water’s edge. The volcano still has some underwater thermal vents and experiences the occasional seismic tremor, but for the most part, it’s considered dormant and its walls are thickly vegetated with green forest and a chaotic network of trails, most of which exists as a protected nature reserve. The earthquake in 2000 originated under the town of Catarina (which sits atop the western lip of the crater) and actually caused the water of the lake to slosh from side to side, starting a rumor that it was boiling. There are several fish species endemic to the lake—products of the forces of evolution in an isolated habitat. Scientists at the Proyecto Ecologico are at work describing some of the remaining “undiscovered” species here and offer scuba tours to view their subjects. Hiking in the forests of the crater walls, you may observe species of toucans, hummingbirds, blue jays, howler and white-face monkeys, and rare butterflies. As you explore, be sure to wave a friendly greeting when passing the Lugareños (as residents of the local small communities are known). To fit in, pronounce your “Adios” as a long, drawn out, “Adiooooh.” No need to be as cordial to the monkeys, who may fling their feces at you if you get too close. ZAPATERA An undiscovered island. Located south of Granada, in line with the volcanic chain that runs through the Pacific Coast of Nicaragua, the island of Zapatera is also of volcanic origin. Before the Spanish conquerors invaded Nicaragua, Zapatera was inhabited by indigenous tribes who have left many traces behind. The island is one of the most important finding places of pre-Columbian artifacts in Nicaragua. Many objects have unfortunately been smuggled off the island, but there are still many objects believed to be hidden below the surface. The island is inhabited by a relatively small population, and there is little tourism infrastructure. In addition to the historical importance, however, the island is also of great attractiveness because of the stunning nature. Getting there still requires quite some effort, but these efforts will be well-rewarded by the beauty of this little explored island. Precolumbian pottery found in Zapatera. NICARAGUAN DANCES one of the real pleasures for the cultural visitor is the variety and popularity of Nicaraguan dances. Unlike many countries that only perform folkloric dances for nostalgia and anthropological studies, Nicaraguan dances are part of every day life for most Nicaraguans. In Masaya, for example, there are more than 100 folkloric dance companies, all performing the broad variety of traditional Nicaraguan dances. Most of the Nicaraguan dance styles are heavily influenced by the 297 year colonial Spanish period, though African and indigenous elements are present, especially in Nicaraguan dances from the Caribbean coast. COCIBOLCA the most popular of one many supposed indigenous names for the body of water known today as Lake Nicaragua. Lake Nicaragua is Latin America's second largest lake and punctuated by more than 400 islands. Its waters drain via the San Juan River to the Caribbean Sea. OMETEPE ISLAND located in western Lake Nicaragua, Isla de Ometepe it is made up of two volcanic cones, one active, Volcán Concepción and the extinct Volcán Maderas. Both the cones of Isla de Ometepe have nature reserves and the isthmus connecting the two volcanoes has a long sandy beach. Isla de Ometepe has been inhabited for at least 3,000 years and houses more than 600 archeological sites. CANOPY TOUR Use of mountaineering techniques to explore the upper reaches of the forest normally not seen by humans. The customer buzzes in between large trees landing on tree platforms and using metal cables with safety equipment. Nicaragua has three canopy tours at the moment, the best being on the Volcán Mombacho. Although many advertise that their canopy tour is in rainforest canopy, most are in either cloud forest or tropical dry forest ecosystems. In Nicaragua there are no rainforest canopy tours at the moment; though there is a rainforest bridge system recently installed high up in the canopy of the Los Guatuzos Wildlife Refuge.
