About Me

.....a long time has passed since ryan + mic first started destroying equipment through a sheer love for noisy, churny, lazy, monotonous, repetitive guitar music... ’92, Inverness, in the highlands of Scotland was where it started, lots of practise, a multitude of line-ups, all resulting in one gig @ the Muirton Motel... "fucking brilliant", one punter shouted... ’94, moved the band to edinburgh, bringing in new recruits Blade + Neil who are to this day stalwarts of the band. The 4-piece unleashed their brand of lazy guitar driven rock to all the dark corners of the city where they met some amazing people who were really up for it but saddly, the snobbery that controlled the Edinburgh music scene said no... unhindered, they went on to some glorious gigs, playing with Mogwai, Broadcast, Ozric Tentacles, EAR but to name a few... ’99 saw the release of their debut album ’alexanders dark band’ which in one respect, signalled the end of an era for gasgiant... Excavation of ’The Vaults’ saw the band lose their practise space so in a rather large huff, they crawled under a rock... ’04 and they reappeared @ ’Inch Big House’ where they untangled their leads and straps, plugged in, looked at each other and smiled. They still had the magic... ’06 and the band were playing their second album ’an uncertainty principle’ around the somewhat less venues that were left in Edinburgh. Xtra merchants on stringed instruments were Cutter, Di + Newton, the new gasgiant was different ’though never forgetting where they came from... Di had Sophiex, Newton had a vanx, Cutter had neither so lasted the longest but in the end, other interests took her elsewherexx... ’08 and the band are gearing up for more gigs and releases, Atzi being the new boy ..o while the other four remain the same... thanx 4 all forms of support from everyone past and present, you ken who you are.xxx
