About Me

"Watching Shutter live can only be described as a unique experience. Guitarists Matt Campbell & Pete Macdonald fluidly work together (a sign of years of playing together) playing riffs that jump between the most melodic and heavy music you will ever hear.
Backed by the solid bass and the innovative drumming of brothers James and Will Roberts gives Shutter an almost dance music like groove which has made them accessible to the many people in the Scotland looking for something different."
Shutter have been lucky enough to have shared stages with some amazing bands including Deftones, Gallows, Pelican, Red Sparowes & Aereogramme along with Festival appearances that have had the likes of Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers, Kasabian, Primal Scream, Magic Numbers and The Undertones as headliners. Sounds Like: Whilst indebted to legends in the field – such as Mogwai and Slint – Shutter have a clear metal edge, a sign that some Highlanders like their Sabbath to be Black. Their set in The Doghouse was well received by an audience more used to the latest skinny jean clad sensation. With orchestral guitars plunging into one another, Shutter begin to resemble Wagner with a touch of feedback.
Gonorth review - This Is Music
Though their presence is understated and they barely look up throughout their set, they regularly set the stage alight throughout their all-too-brief half hour of Pelican-flavoured post-rock. This high standard, by which many of tonight’s other performers will inevitably be measured against, leaves little wonder as to why Deftones snared them for a support slot in recent times. The drums arrive fierce and accurate, adeptly penetrating the clear, layered, dual guitar assault as and when the crescendos rise and warble out. There’s effortless synchronicity at play here, and the tools to beat away the boredom that too often dogs the genre are firmly in Shutter’s possession. Gonorth review - The Skinny
