THE UPRISING is a band from Orange County, California with oldschool roots in the OC punk scene. THE UPRISING is the bastard son of EL CENTRO (OC punk rock since 1993). THE UPRISING is comprised of 4 members, three of which have played together in bands for the better part of 15 years. THE UPRISING's sound is a solid, politically charged OC punk sound. THE UPRISING is Crabby on vocals, Brett on guitar, Gil on bass, and Danny on drums.THE UPRISING's first release will be a 6 song CD EP called "We Don't Belong". The new material is being recorded under the watchful eyes and ears of Greg Hetson (Bad Religion/Circle Jerks) and Jim Monroe (NARC studios) who are producing the CD for the band. Also showing their love for this project is Jim Lindberg (Pennywise), who sang guest vocals on the new CD EP. It's been a real honor for THE UPRISING to work with these guys over the past months.Probably the most amazing thing about THE UPRISING is the fact that they are even able to play today. In 2002 the bands singer Steve "Crabby" Cabler was in a nightclub in Bali, Indonesia when a 2000lb terrorist bomb killed over 200 people. Crabby lost his best friend in the blast (RIP Steve "Webby" Webster), and was severely injured himself. He had a broken scapula, blown out cochlias in his ears, and third degree burns on his ears, hands, and elsewhere. Burned and broken, Crabby returned to the US not able to pay his rising medical bills or rent, etc.. The US government turned their back on Crabby since he was not a victim of terrorism on American soil like the 911 victims. The punk rock community (Pennywise, US Bombs, Unit F, Shattered Faith, DI, The Rolemodels, Drain Bramaged, El Nada, The Line and Arkham, special props to Troy Eckert and Volcom) however did NOT turn their back. The punk rock community came together for a benefit show which raised enough money to pay Crabby's medical bills and get him back on his feet. Crabby has since overcome most of his physical injuries, and despite doctors telling him he would never be able to sing again...He's making more noise than ever. It turns out he and the band have something to say. click here to buy new albumFounded on beliefs of change, revolution, and unity, punk rock was formed as a means of relating these messages to the youth. Today, musicians and artists face a complicated decision; to teach their audiences about mainstream radio issues, or to tackle issues of true worth. Heavily influenced by the words of preceding punk bands, CHASER front man Mike LeDonne, took it upon himself to continue the spirit of these life lessons in CHASER's latest full-length album, Numb America. Choosing to address social, political, and civic matters, CHASER is doing their part to give back to scene from which they received so much. In attempt to open the eyes of the youth and encourage them to participate in political issues, in the title track "Numb America," CHASER sings "Reality TV over reading daily news. Just stay withdrawn and trust them all, they know what's best for you." Similarly, "Autopilot: Mind Your Own" lyrics "We're relying on others and other's spoken words. Camouflage is easier than breaking from the herd," discusses the impact media has on those who are incapable of thinking for themselves, and the need to "mind your own." Starting off in their drummer's garage in the fall of 2000, four kids from south Orange County, California began to create the music that influenced their lives. The original lineup of CHASER consisted of Mike LeDonne, the founder and front man, and three mutual friends from High School: AJ Latteri, Josh Millican, and Mike Denning. After Mike Denning left the group a year after its formation, current guitarist Nate Warner, another friend from High School, was brought in to take over. With this lineup, a tremendous amount of energy was brought to the stage making for unforgettable live performances. In a time when many of the 90's punk bands were calling it quits, and you would never find punk rock on any major outlets, fans of the genre were in dying need of a skate punk revival. CHASER's debut album, "In Control," was self-released in 2003, and just in time for Southern California punks to not lose hope in their local bands. The immediate craze over this fast and rough melodic punk album elevated them among their peers. Soon, the phone started ringing and CHASER found themselves sharing the stage with some of the bands that inspired them to start one of their own. Bands like Pennywise, Unwritten Law, Circle Jerks, No Use for a Name, Good Riddance, Guttermouth, Suicide Machines, Ignite, Authority Zero, and many more gave CHASER the opportunity to get their name on the map. With show experience under their belts and a constantly growing fan base, it was time to give the fans what they had been begging for, a new record. In 2006, CHASER released their latest full-length album, Numb America, on Felony Records. 14 fast, catchy, and melodic punk tracks that fuse meaningful lyrics and aesthetic melodies, delivered clean and passionately, accompanied by dueling guitar riffs, solos, and three-part harmonizing backup vocals. And all tied together with explosive rhythms that keep the fists pumping in the air. After its release, CHASER was personally invited by the seminal punk band, Good Riddance, to be direct support for their 3-week European tour. Playing 16 shows in 10 different countries, CHASER finally had the opportunity to witness first hand the grueling of life on the road. But waking up in a new city every day and meeting fans across the world, they had quite the opposite experience, and realized that this was truly what they lived for. After returning from the European tour, co-founder AJ Latteri announced that he would no longer be playing with CHASER due to full-time work obligations. In search of a new bassist, CHASER called upon ex-lead singer of a local punk band, Jesse Stopnitzky, who brought a new element of bass and backup vocals that were previously missing from the music. At the same time, CHASER was ready to bring in a lead guitarist, and sought out Cameron Denning, Mike Denning's younger brother. Bringing with him technical and diverse guitar influences, the band began incorporating new guitar riffs and melodies that had yet to be attempted, truly helping to define the eclectic, but familiar sound of CHASER. With this dedicated and passionate lineup, CHASER felt it was time to get back out on the road. They booked a headlining Northern California Tour promoting their 7" Split on Felony Records, toured the west coast with Good Riddance, booked many shows across California, Arizona and Nevada, and began planning for their first U.S. Headlining Tour. In early 2007, CHASER spent 30 days and 8,000 miles on the road for their self booked and self funded U.S. Headlining Tour, hitting all the southern states from California to Florida. While booking all shows and tours with only the help of their manager and record label, and heavily promoting any show they get booked, they have earned the reputation by promoters, as well as local bands, as being one of the hardest working bands in Orange County. While playing energy and emotion filled sets with infectious stage performances, it's no surprise CHASER continues to play to growing crowds. Declaring that "every fan is a friend we haven't had the chance to make," they have become known as "the band that will have a drink with you after the show, and tell you how grateful they were see to see you there"; picking up life long friends and fans along the way. The main objective of CHASER is to remind those who live and love this genre that "there is definitely still a scene out there, and it is a band like us, CHASER, who refuses to let it die." After all, who better to carry on the legacy of those who paved the way for punk rock to exist, than their biggest fans? Click to Buy Cd Now
One Big Lie is the true definition of a "Do It Yourself" band. Going on 6 years of hardwork, with a few breaks in between the early years, OBL is finally making a name for themselves in the punkrock world, and are just getting started! This style of punk is a dying breed, and only a few out there still represent this in true fashion. In the early 1990's, bands like 98 Mute, Deviates,Guttermouth,Pennywise, just to name a few, helped to set the foundation of a melodic/hardcore punk scene in Southern Cali. This scene is drying up, with the majority of bands going EMO, or Metal crossover, or fashion pop-punk. One Big Lie looks to re-vive the style of music that they have a passion for, and plan on not doing it quietly! After a year of writing, producing, and getting focused in the studio, the highly anticipated album "Blinded" is finally out, and available! Now with solid ground to stand on,and a blistering arsenal of a CD, OBL is in the works of signing to a reputable label, and hitting the road, to a town near you-if all goes as planned. Help keep this alive, and support OBL, and other great bands by going to local shows, and buying their CD's!! . click here to buy new CDCritical Me formed back in December of 2001 out of San Diego, CA. The concept behind the name Critical Me is based on individuals being critical of and challenging the social and political boundaries that are forced upon us. We wanted to convey this message with energetic punk rock as our major influences our Pennywise, bad Religion, and Lagwagon. Using this foundation, we started playing major venues acrossed Southern California including House of Blues, Whisky A Go Go, Soma, Casbah, Canes Bar & Grill, Brick by Brick, and Epicenter. At the end of 2006, Critical Me signed with Magnitude 6.19 Records and released our debut album "Promised Land" in October of 2007. Twenty miles north of Los Angeles, Ca lies a valley where the modern punk rock scene thrives. Where the mosh pits are as full as the parking lots of the endless strip malls, and bad tattoos are as prevalent as the pick up trucks. It was here, in Simi Valley where Majority Lost was raised with the sound of double time beats in their ears and stage diving in their hearts. Majority Lost consists of. . . The Bova Brothers; Joe and Tony with life-long friends, Shaun Michel and Andy Gerber who began playing out in the Simi scene during High School. It was not until late 2006 when the guys found their singer from a craigslist ad that MAJORITY LOST came to fruition. Becoming best friends and writing partners almost instantly, Jesse Special and the guys wrote songs that instantly became anthems of the San Fernando Valley scene. In just a few short months Majority Lost has been a featured artist on Myspace, hailed as the “Saviors of punk rock” on Crave Online, sold several thousand of their self released E.P., shot a video which has been seen tens of thousands of times online, sold out countless Los Angeles shows, and toured throughout the west coast. In 2007, the band signed a production deal with Daniel Dart (Hellcat/Epitaph) and Riot Riot studios to record their first full length album. With “Gods, Kings and Personal Demons” Majority Lost has stayed true to its punk roots while never failing to acknowledge and define the future of the genre. Hard hitting, dynamic, melodic, and lyrically scathing, it’s no shock that ML’s sneak peaks of the album have landed them on Myspace’s unsigned charts. In the fresh months of 2008, Majority Lost is currently seeking distribution for their new album while continuing to tour and gig constantly. The army of “The Lost Kids” is an ever-growing phenomenon as is the band’s tightness on and off stage. “Talk to our peers, talk to the kids at shows, turn on the T.V. It’s no shock that the majority of us are as lost as hell. This is a tough world to grow up in. The only thing we offer is honesty, and it seems to be what people wanted to hear” -Jesse Special, Majority Lost For over 4 years, Antagen has continued to remain one of the strongest up and coming band's in orange county's competitive music scene, and their sound is quickly spreading. The band is unparalleled in it's work ethic and drive. On any given night Antagen you might see handing out free demos to SoCals punk rock concert goers. Both promoting themselves, and the punk rock scene. They've broken barriers, exceeded goals, and continue to thrive in an over saturated and chaotic southern California music scene/industry. Within the past year, they've played with Authority Zero, Strung Out, Guttermouth, Much The Same, The Voodoo Glowskulls, and many other bands. They also had two songs featured in Dirt Alliance's video "Change" ,Pete Frieden's surf video "The Circus" and fuel tv. Antagen's music is best described as aggressive modern punk rock with socially conscious lyrics, while maintaining the ability to infuse memorable choruses. While performing the songs live, the audience never fails to make the show there own by fighting there way on stage and singing with the band, creating a truly remarkable experience. The punk rock foursome, considered young by industry standards (20, 21, 21, 24), hailing from southern orange county (Rancho Santa Margarita), came together in 2003. The best explanation for the group dynamic would be; they were childhood friends who happen to play instruments. After coming together in the summer they spent hours crafting there sound in the thick of the heat, as the garage became an all too familiar setting. The band quickly shed there garage band mentality/image after attracting the attention of producer Ryan Greene (NoFX, Lagwagon, Strung Out). Soon after meeting up with Ryan the band cut there debut record, aptly named, 15 Days (for the fact that the record was recorded and mixed in just 15 days). Quickly after releasing 15 Days the band won the right to play on the 2005 Warped Tour beating out over 10,000 bands to win the spot. Ernie Ball Marketing director Brian Ball had this to say; "Antagen stepped up and delivered a high energy performance filled with an array of accessible punk rock hooks. Their chorus's continually left you wanting more, and stayed in my head for the better part of the afternoon at Warped". Listen for yourself, we'd love to hear what you think!
