One great American labor documentary is an Injury to One, the story of the IWW labor organizer Frank Little and his tragic demise at the hands of the mining trusts in Butte, Montana. Furthermore I must boast that this film was made by my brother Travis(who also has a myspace you should check out). I know its quite a cliche but I really love Vertigo by Hitchcock. I also really love Strike by Eisenstein, I loved the Thin Red Line by Terrence Malik, and the avante-garde nature documentaries of Jean Panleve' (I hope thats how you spell his name). Santiago Alvarez, a Cuban revolutionary film maker also made a number of amazing and urgent films including 79 Sprintimes, Hanoi Tues 13th, Serra Pelado and many, many others. My brother Travis made an excellent documentary about Alvarez called Accelerated Underdevelopment. I also love the film Dead Man.
My favorite TV shows include, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Star Trek the Next Generation, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Farscape and Land of the Lost.
The Grapes of Wrath, Things Fall Apart, Genessis (Eduardo Galeano), The Autobiography of Malcolm X, Origin of Family, Private Property and the State and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind.
Fidel Castro, Charley Patton, Hannibal Barca, Steve Yzerman, Rosa Luxemburg, Maybell Carter, Woody Guthrie, Alan Lomax, Jackie Robinson, Curt Flood, Leonard Peltier, Nik Lidstrom, and all the revolutionaries world wide!
