All of humanity dwells in the howl of a wolf.

About Me

I love making records. I consider myself a heavy drummer, a solid bass player, and a desert rock space guitarist. I currently play guitar for a lushy rock n' roll outfit called THE DISTANTS. Very heavy at times and very subdued at others. We have a record out called Broken Gold which I produced and engineered some of. You can get it on Itunes. I play drums in a noise rock band called KITTENS. We are signed to Sonic Unyon records and have toured all over Canada playing with the Unsane, the Jesus Lizard, Nashville Pussy, Shallow North Dakota, Treble Charger, etc... I used to have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I was a germ freak and I got sick and dropped out of school and lost ten pounds a month for seven months. That lasted a little less than a year. That is now in remission due to the healing of my Father, Fred (Kind-Walking-Bear) Kelly and his brother Tonbasanakwut Kinew, AND therapy and a drug called Anafranil. I am a Gemini. I have two Indian names. Nanasanakwut means clouds-make-a-stairway-to-the-spirit-world. Pizhew means Lynx (Tobasonakwut named me that). I am a member of the lynx clan. It is rare to share your name with your clan's. I have no Irish blood in me (though I've done my share of drinking), but Kelly is a name fabricated by the Canadian Government in order to assimilate my people. Our family was of the golden Eagle Family - hence Tobasanakwut switching his last name from Kelly to Kinew in keeping with tradition. My Dad chose to remain a Kelly and if it's good enough for my Father Fred Kelly then i'm down with it. Big ups to my cousin Wabanakwut! I have two amazing brothers. Don and Brad. They have amzingly cool wives. My brother Brad is a pilot and is the eldest of the two. He taught me how to play hockey and told me to always go for it no matter what. My brother Don is a super funny comedian and independent consultant not unlike my Father. My brother Don is responsible for getting me into music. He showed up to pick me up from school when I was in 6th grade with a copy of the record Led Zeppelin IV (yes on Vinyl!). He also got me into My Bloody Valentine, the Pixies, BRMC. Life is a paradox. I'm a gemini. Allow me to quote NIKOS KAZANTZAKIS' 'The Last Temptation of Christ'.... "The dual substance of Christ- the yearning, so human,so superhuman, of man to attain God...has always been a deep inscrutable mystery to me. My principle anguish and source of all my joys and sorrows from my youth onward has been the incessant, merciless battle between the spirit and the flesh... and my soul is the arena where these two armies have clashed and met."
