About Me

Amaris has worked for over 10 years as both an artist, mentor and teacher instructing students of diverse cultures in media literacy and leadership development. Amaris has performed in places such as the Apollo and the United Nations, combining theatre and Hip-Hop in order to educate the masses of social ills like violence, child abuse and date rape. Her work was also documented with FACES, a Brooklyn based theater troupe, in an one hour documentary, that faces the issues of control and violence in teen dating relationships. “It Ain’t Love” aired on Cinemax and screened at the Lincoln Center Human Rights International Film Festival. “It Ain’t Love” was produced by Edward James Olmos in association with the Foundation for Advancement in Science and Education and Funded by the US Department of Justice.---------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------Ama ris Mesa has also organized for the Hip Hop Association and the H2O International Hip Hop Film Festival.
