Dallas Don

Tut, tut. Looks like rain.

About Me

I was born in Connecticut, raised there and in Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Illinois. Been playing music since I was a wee lad, piano, drums, high school marching band, etc. Left home at 17 and ended up in California. Started playing guitar in punk bands, discovered I could sing and write songs so I started my own band and called it Plain Wrap. We put out a record on the now-defunct Enigma label. After a time I got bored of the hardcore scene so I started a poppier kind of group called 3-D Picnic. We put out 3 records on the Cargo label. Then I got the chance to join Thelonious Monster, who had just been signed to Capitol. I had to switch from guitar to bass, but that was OK cause I got to tour all over the world quite a bit and play huge rock festivals and live in tour buses for a couple of years. Yeah, we really did it up. That band kind of self-destructed, though, so I started a new sort of hard rock band, Lutefisk. I had also started playing drums for a local fellow, name of Beck. At the time the band was just him and me, and it was fun watching our audience go from empty clubs to packed houses in a matter of months, as "Loser" climbed the charts. Before long, though, things were happening with Lutefisk, and we toured a lot ourselves and put out 2 records on the Bongload label, then we signed up with A&M. Made a record for them, but they got bought out and most of the bands were dropped, us included. I kicked around L.A. for a time, playing in various bands (Nudist Priest, for one), did some solo shows, then the money ran out. So I "got my head together", got a job, met a girl, got married, bought a house, had a kid, quit my job, and became a "stay-at-home-dad" (there must be a better term for it). Got a band with my wife, Leslie, called Order of the Wand (www.myspace.com/orderofthewand) and I'm recording my first solo record. It's taking a while, but it'll be worth the wait.
