ABOUT DJ ANTOMATTEI OF TOKYO
Marc Antomattei (born January 4, 1983), better known as DJ Antomattei of Tokyo (DJ AOT), is a professional disc jockey from Clarksville, Tennessee USA who is based in Yokohama and Tokyo, Japan. DJ Antomattei of Tokyo plays many eclectic styles of music including house, hip hop, acid jazz, nu-jazz, disco, soul, salsa, and Japanese pop among other styles.He is the nephew of Agustin “Augie†Antomattei, an exceptional salsa trumpeter who has performed with greats such as Eddie Palmieri, Bobby Valentin, Cano Extremera, Jose Alberto, Pellin RodrÃguez, and the 1977 Puerto Rico All Stars, a legendary salsa jazz band that was the Puerto Rico alternative to the acclaimed New York based Fania All Stars. He is also a nephew of Victor Rodriguez, another salsa trumpter currently performing with the world famous El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico. Lastly, his grandfather's brother Cándido Antomattei, was one of two main vocalist in Arsenio RodrÃguez's conjunto, a band that was part of the roots in the establishment of latin music genres such as mambo and salsa.DJ Antomattei credits DJs Tony Humphries and Dimitri From Paris as his inspirations. The artist name "Antomattei of Tokyo" is an open homage to DJ Dimitri from Paris. Although Antomattei clearly is not of Japanese descent, he uses the name to mark where he had received his start in everything he does now as a DJ and as an entertainer. Aside from DJing Marc Antomattei is also a promoter, model, fashionista, graphic designer, and writer.Currently Antomattei plays as a resident DJ at The Green Sheep in Yokohama. The event titled "The Pole" is held at the end of every month. He also has a brand new residency at 57 Fifty Seven, an upscale New York City themed restaurant and bar near Tokyo's newest upscale city, Midtown.
