About Me

I am married with two sons, ages 20 and 16. I met my husband, Ed, while living in Austin, Texas. I moved to Austin by way of other stories I won't include here about a year or two after graduating from college. I guess Ed and I had known each other 10 years before we actually were married. Our life in Austin was so much fun. We both miss Austin, Texas to this day. I know Ed is terribly homesick for Texas.
But, we moved to Weirton after we had Josh and have been here since then. We’ve been married now for 20 years and our kids are now almost grown. We have a good life together. Ed and I work hard and pay our bills. We have found this MySpace thingy and that is about our only distraction from the humdrums of our life now.
Our children are very well mannered, kind and smart. We hope that they will be more successful than either one of us and we believe they will be.
I enjoy reading, watching movies, downloading and listening to music, playing online games and video games. I am addicted to the Nintendo Wii and The Twilight Princess game. Ed and I are pretty much homebodies now as we gave up the wild party life quite a while ago.
I try to remain a tolerant person even though some people can push one beyond all tolerance. I find that tolerance is such an important quality to have to find serenity in this crazy world. I hate injustice especially when it comes to children. I do like the quiet life and just hope for love, happiness and success for my two boys. They are both wonderful children and I am very lucky to be their mother. I pray for an end to this unjust and terrible war in Iraq. I wish that our young people could just come home. My heart goes out to all families who have lost loved ones to this senseless war and to all young men and women who have been wounded so needlessly. Peace!

My Interests

I love watching Mason play baseball. He has been playing since he was 6 years old starting with T-Ball. He is a great ballplayer. He has played a few different positions but my favorite is watching him play shortstop. He has a wicked glove. But, this year he got to catch for the first time and we were very pleased with how natural he appeared behind the plate. He wants to be an actor when he grows up and he certainly does his best to keep us entertained.
Mason's JV team is now 12-2. Ed and I love this team. These boys have shown us what it means to actually play like a real team. They all cheer for each other and are happy when one of their own shines on the field. There are no superstar attitudes or cockiness. It has just simply been a joy to watch this team this year.

I love hearing Josh play his guitar. He quits if he thinks I am listening but I think he sounds pretty good. He has taught himself. He is just starting his 2nd year at Pittsburgh Technical Institute. He will have an associates degree in Electronics. Josh was never a big fan of school but he is really doing well at PTI. Getting A's and B's so far. Update: Josh just was accepted for his internship at a local communications company right here in Weirton. So, this will be much more convenient and is very encouraging for Josh. Ed and I are so very proud of him.

Also watch South Park, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report (Hmmm, I don't seem to watch anything but Comedy Central. Actually, I also watch the Food Network. I enjoy the food and cake decorating challenges. And, I do at times try to enrich my thinking with some PBS or History Channel. But, not too much.)

Heroes:

My children, Josh and Mason, are my real heroes.I also consider anyone who sacrifices their own happiness and/or safety for the well-being and happiness of another human being or animal a true hero. When I was a kid, I loved Roberto Clemente. He was the right fielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates for his whole career and one of the greatest players of all time. However, his greatest achievements were what he did to help those people who could not help themselves. He died doing that while on a rescue mission to give food and aid to the victims of a Nicaraguan earthquake. The plane that was carrying the supplies with Roberto on board crashed into the ocean just after take off. The body was never recovered.
One of the greatest Americans of the 20th century and a hero of mine: Bobby Kennedy. He is still so sadly missed from the world.
