About Me

This guy plays the flute like a mad-man on fire. Need we say more? Some say he went to a music school in cleveland, others say he fell out of the space/time reality vortex in a little ol city-by-the-bay, pied piping the masses into a vodoo trance. Grab your dance pants, don't forget your hyper-ventilation bag, leave your inhabitions habitually indebted to your free range of creative juices, dribbling down your chin, frothing on your embocure hole, permanetly staining your silver-sheen black.Oh, and don't forget PROJECT, with Peter Seymour (bass) and Eric Stephenson (cello). Check em out at whatisproject.org.These are the bad boys themselves, these are your nightmares, this is you "dreaming while wide awake". A shout out to the CAI, a shout out to those that made us, holla to cleveland-on-the-lake, but Brooklyn, baby, Brooklyn himself, the county of Kings, crowning your money-pit existence with just enough sweetness to make the most bitter pill easily swallowed...BTW, looking to learn how to do this? Pattillo is always teaching the PATTILLOSTYLE of rhythm and beatboxing flute. Email the guy for availability at [email protected]. Lessons can be taught both in brooklyn or times square, and while on the road in between shows and stops!!!

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: Pattillostyle.com Whatisproject.org
Influences: Pattillo has been heavily influenced by the work he did in S.F. with the Collaborative Arts Insurgency. Blending the instrumental music of classical, jazz, and hip-hop, with performance poetry, folk music, comedy and dance, the CAI and the weekly space at 16th and Mission shaped this flautist into a kalaidescope force of genre and energy. You can listen to some of these efforts with Aoka and Contajous, two artists that appear in the myspace band pages. His biggest influences come from the classical and jazz realms (String quartet music, Monk, R. R. Kirk, and Beethoven).
Sounds Like: This sound has been built out of the experiences of playing Concert Halls, Chamber Series, Vaudeville Clubs, Rowdy Bars and the Parks and Subways of the World. It is meant to be Genre bending and blending---jazz/classical/hip-hop/worldmusic/pop--nothing is off limits!!
Type of Label: None
