REVIEW

BIOGRAPHY
The history of Lightless Moor began in Cagliari (Italy) in the year 2001, from an idea by the two singers Ilaria Falchi and Ignazio Pinna (also the latter frontman of Verbo Nero) who, to bring to life their vision of the dark-gothic metal, started a hard research of prepared and creative musicians. In 2002 Matteo Rampi, ex Spleen Bedside and Dracona ( Milan), joined the line-up as drummer, soon followed by Federico Mura at the guitars, now both engaged in Kether, black metal band. Giovanni Loi and Gabriele Masala entered the band as guitarist and bassist respectively. At the keyboards Giovanni Mancosu completed the line-up. The line-up, having been decided, took inspiration from different influences and devoted itself to the composition of their own first songs. Between 2002 and 2004, Lightless Moor faced their first live experience, then the band line-up suffered some changes: at the beginning of 2004 Ignazio Pinna left the band, followed a few months later by Giovanni Loi and Gabriele Masala. So Federico Mura started to play the role of male singer, and at the end of the same year Roberto Mura joined the line-up as bass player. Thanks to the different backgrounds of the involved musicians, the stylistical direction of the band has been so defined and enriched by new moods, which beyond gothic metal now amalgamates black and death metal, industrial and classical music. During 2005 Lightless Moor spent their time on other projects such as poetry meetings and acoustic live performances, characterizing these events with their music and their arrangements. At this point the band decided to linger over the recording of the new songs and this project kept them busy until January 2006. At the end of the recordings Giovanni Mancosu left the band. The outcome of this long time gestation is the self-produced 5-tracks debut demo Renewal, which represents the celebration of the rising awareness of the bands own music, journey and future. In Renewal, in both lyrics and music, the opposite images of love, fear, madness, death, rage and desperation, mixed up in the dialogues between female voice and growling, keyboards' orchestration, melancholic melodies and aggressive guitar riffs, sustained by the energy of drums and deep rhythmical bass, live together. Now the band is busy with the composition of new songs, which are the result of the increased experience, the courage of experimentation, the strength of the bands identity research and the renewal of the deepest soul of Lightless Moor.
Between 2006 and 2007 the band’s line-up suffers new changes: a new keyboard player, Francesco Pintore, and a new drummer, Giacomo Macis (Holy Martyr), after Matteo Rampi’s leaving, join Lightless Moor. The band follows its goal to reach an increasing audience with its music, and keeps working in studio on new tracks, even preparing future live shows.
Moreover, Lightless Moor won the 2007 competition organized by the metal magazine Metal Maniac, which will bring them to appear in the Global Battle of the Bands 2007 contest.Contact : [email protected]
