All Rock fans around of the world...!
Born on August 21, 1952 in Cannock, England Glenn Hughes left school at the tender age of sixteen to play in various local groups. One of them, an outfit called Finders Keepers, changed their name to Trapeze and went on to rise to world fame. The Band’s illustrious line-up (apart from Hughes, the band included Whitesnake guitarist-to-be Mel Galley, and drummer Dave Holland, who went on to join the Judas Priest camp at the end of the Seventies) brought out a total of three albums, with particularly You are the Music, We’re Just the Band (1972) causing a sensation. June 1973 saw the two Deep Purple members Ian Gillan and Roger Glover, leaving the band.In 1973, Blackmore invited Glenn and David Coverdale to join Deep Purple as co-lead vocalists. During Glenn's time with DP, he sang on many of the band's classic albums, including: "Burn," "Stormbringer," and "Come Taste the Band." He admits that performing at venues like the Orange Bowl in Miami and at events like The California Jam was the "heyday of rock and roll excess...everything was bigger and larger than life."After leaving Deep Purple, Glenn released his first solo disc, "Play Me Out." He later released the Hughes-Thrall album [with Pat Thrall] which featured the popular ballad, "Coast to Coast." Hughes is also noted for his work with Gary Moore, Phenomena, and Black Sabbath.Glenn has since completed a variety of solo projects that have enjoyed a tremendous amount of success overseas, especially in Japan. His career is also sprinkled with some surprising highlights.
Glenn also loves working with other musicians, including Voices of Classic Rock members, Bobby Kimball [Toto] and Joe Lynn Turner [Rainbow/Deep Purple].
While Glenn is known mostly for his "rock" or blues-tinged vocal stylings, he enjoys singing all genres of music. Anyone who has spent any time with Glenn will probably agree that he is not only a very charming guy, but also confident and humble at the same time.
