JASON STUART'S COBALT BLUE

About Me

a******************* I live the life I love and I love the life I live. I started my career 35 years ago at the bottom, just playing in bars all over the USA. The only problem? I found out I liked it here at the bottom. Playing in bars and having the opportunity to bring the show right up front to the people and seeing their reactions first hand and feeding off the personal energy of each and every one of them. Sure, I'd love to have the best blues player nomination or the W.C. Handy Award. But, There ain't nobody handing me a Grammy and my new video ain't overdue, but one thing you can be sure of. I'll play some blues for you.COBALT BLUE is a very fortunate band. It is made up of people, who have a great love of what they do and a great sense of loyalty and friendship.Jamsie "COSMO" Carvelli: Jimmy and Jason have been playing in bands together since their high school days in NYC. Even though, at some times they have taken on different projects, they have always found the greatest joy working and playing together in the same band. "COSMO", handles drums percussion and vocals with style and ease, making the band just float on the groove he lays down.DAVID CRAFT: ..boards and vocals. From right outside the windy city of Chicago, David is the man with the plan when it comes to keys. Bringing with him experience from many genre's of music, he is able to draw on all of them to add just the right blend to make a song come alive.Jim Pihl: This is the bottom end that does not end. Play guitar as well as bass and percussion, Jim keeps everything in the pocket and makes it funky. With a family background in music, Jim adds the drive to COBALT BLUE that makes it all come together.Josh "Buck Studley" Sidran: Josh is the one person that we cannot do without. He has made every show we do better in some way just by being there. A sound engineer, a crew chief, an electronics wizard, and the all around best friend a person could ask for. I am proud to call him my friend and proud to say that I have known him his entire life.

I'd like to meet:

I have been very fortunate in my years of touring, recording, and playing. I have been able to meet and spend time with some of the greatest players and entertainers of our time. One of my experience's occured while running sound for the late Mighty Joe Young. We were discussing playing and I said I was filling in for the sound man because he had taken ill and that I was in a blues band, playing the same club the night after his engagement. Mighty Joe asked me. "Where's your ax?", and I said right behind the back line and the next thing I knew, there was no sound man and I was playing the blues with Mighty Joe Young for the next hour and a half. His kindness and inspiration always helped to keep me on track. Two of the other great influences are none other than, "The Ice Man" Mr. Albert Collins and the "Delta Hurricane The one and only Larry McCray. Albert and his lovely wife Gwen pushed me and Larry was kind enough to play along on two tracks of my very first album with my band COBALT BLUE. Our friendship still remains strong to this day. Mr. B.B. King He spent time after a show signing and posing with everyone that was backstage. I waited till the end. Then as he was signing my favorite poster. I told him that I had just turned 50 and he had just turned 75 and that my real ambition was to turn 75 and for him to turn 100 and to sit across from him and play just one more song. Mr King just smiled as he finished autographing my poster and said. "You wishin' me a long life ain't ya?" I just smiled shook his hand and said. "Thank you Mr King. For always making me want to be a better player and entertainer.
