About Me

A video from our latest gig in Stockholm. Some behind the scenes stuff (in swedish) and snippets of three songs played on stage.

BIO
The band started out as a duo in the summer of 2002 with Erik Ullvin and Brendan Sheehy (from Dublin originally) getting together playing a set of trubadour songs with a few irish tunes thrown in. Things were going well and they got together a repertoire of roughly 30 songs ranging from The Beatles to Crowded House. They perfomed under the name Pubcrawlers.
They got their first gig a few months later in October at a local pub and at the last minute they were joined by Eriks' sister Karin on fiddle, who has since been a full-time member of the band.
The owner of one of the pubs where they would play misheard the bandname and wrote "The Barcrawlers" instead of "Pubcrawlers" in the local newspaper advertisment. This error was not all that bad, because the members thought it was quite a good name...so they changed it to The Barcrawlers.
Seeing as the public enjoyed the Irish songs more than the regular trubadour offerings the band decided to concentrate fully on that style of music and quickly rehearsed their way through three dozens of traditional and modern Irish tunes.
As a three-piece, and occasionally joined by a guest bassplayer, The Barcrawlers have played at every type of event and venue imaginable from private parties, streetcorners, weddings, pubs, restaurants and even barn dances...
In August 2005 two more Barcrawlers permanently joined in the madness in the shape of Markus Lindberg (bass) and Micke Ström (tin whistle) and the sound and ambitions went to a whole new level.
As a five piece The Barcrawlers manage to capture the energy and adrenaline of The Pogues while keeping the flavour of the more traditional pub type atmosphere singalong tunes of The Dubliners, Fureys and the Wolfe Tones.
In February 2006 the band got a new drummer. Erik Ullvin left The Barcrawlers and handed over the drumsticks to Palle Svensson, who has previously been playing professionally a few years in another irish band. Just after a few gigs Palle reconnected with his previous booking agent Black Water Music (who had arranged all the gigs in the past) and told Black Water Music about The Barcrawlers great potential of quickly becoming a professional band. It didn't take long until new tourdates filled the calendar.
In January 2007 Micke Ström decided to leave the band after a period of absence from the bands performances due to bouts with his personal health. The rest of the band asked friend and tall fellow multi-intrumentalist Robin if he wanted to fill the empty spot on tin-whistle, flute and maybe even accordion. He accepted the offer. The Barcrawlers now have an even taller member than before.
The future is looking bright for The Barcrawlers, with debut album "The First Bar" continuing to sell like hot cakes, an upcoming new CD release and a pretty comforting list of live gigs on the horizon. So keep your eyes and ears open for more exciting Barcrawling madness. This is the place where you get the latest news about the band.
