As far as we know, the most long-lived Swedish punkband ever to have walked the earth. For better or for worse, who´s to say? This band has gone through several incarnations, all displaying their own individual strengths. But it will take you too much time to sit and read through our entire history. It all started in -83, when Johnny and Per hooked up and formed a three-piece-band with a drummer by the name of Martin. Raw and fast punk-rock was the result. All captured on their first two albums (now conviniently released on one cd, "Kröp,gick och skrek")But things evolve and change over time. And Charta 77 has tried it all, reverb-drenched New Model Army-esque stuff on the album "White Face", melodic punk-rock that will fit your skateboard, did a concept-punk-album five odd years before Green Day, exhaust-fume-fueled garage punk. But some things stay the same; the political awareness, the love of the music they play, Johnny´s Les Pauls, the need to take things in different directions and Per and Johnny (we don´t know for sure, but they might be married). It´s hard to imagine one without the other. The current line-up has been together since 2003, when the amazing drummer, Johan Hultman, joined to fill the spot after Teijo Pulkkinen. This line up also include, bass-player, Mattias Söderlund, who has been part of the Charta 77-family since 2000. This incarnation released the album, "Spegelapan", in 2004. By many held as one of the best albums in the bands history.
