About Me

Ernst And The Edsholm Rebels – E.A.T.E.R. were formed in the summer of 1982 in Grums/Kil, Värmland, Sweden by Mikael “Gröten” Karlsson - guitar and vocals, Anders Brännström – bass, Peter “Pelle” Forsman – drums and Hans “Hasse” Dahlgren – vocals.
Gröten and Brännström had been playing together with S.T.B (Sven Tempes Balle) Pelle, who originates from the county of Dalarna, had been in various early line-ups of Sune Studs och Grönlandsrockarna. Hasse had been a member of the near legendary HMS Svett of Segmon. This first line-up of E.A.T.E.R. recorded Chaos Cassette vol.1 which was realesed in the fall of 1982.
..
The cassette was produced at three recording sessions in the Kloakens Alternativa Antistudio (KAAS) in Töreboda, which was runned by Grötens new friend Micke Blomqvist of Asta Kask. The realese contains songs like; Krigets vansinne; CIA; Stela små fingrar; Desperat; Ni ger mej råd and Doomsday Troops. It is also from these recordingsessions the contributions to Really Fast vol.1 and World Class Punk (ROIR) were taken. A number of gigs were played by this first line-up, among them the chaotic and by media well documented gig at Segmons Folkets hus in february of 1983.
By the release of the bands first EP – Doomsday Troops EP (Ernst Records) Hasse was replaced by Mikael “Micke” Larsson as the leadsinger. Micke had earlier played in Psykjouren together with infamous and by now nationwidely known Buddha. Doomsday Troops EP was recorded and produced In KAAS by E.A.T.E.R. and Micke Blomqvist, and released in the summer of 1983. The record was sold all over the world, and E.A.T.E.R. recived recognition from people like Jello Biafra of Dead Kennedys and Pushead, the artist that made Metallicas and the Misfits cartoons. With the new line-up and a sucessfull record-realese E.A.T.E.R. went on the road and toured Sweden, together with bands like Asta Kask, Anti-cimex, Nyx Negativ, Arabens Anus, TA.S.K., Sötlimpa, Product Assar, Strindbergs, Attentat, Avskum to name a few, during ’83 and ’84.
A recorded gig was released under the name Chaos Cassette vol.2. By the fall of 1984 the band felt ready to go into the studio again, and did so. Abort the System EP and Dieu et l’Etat EP were both recorded in the Rosa Studion, north of Karlstad, but neither of the two records were ever released. Still, two tracks from these recording-sessions can be heard on Empty Skulls vol.2 (Fartblossom).
..
By this time the bandmembers disagreed on almost everything, and E.A.T.E.R. disbanded. Gröten and Pelle joined Product Assar of Mariestad and toured together with Johan and Mika for a short period of time. Micke and Brännström formed their own band together with Pegs (ex Nattarbete and Hollywood Indians) and Buddha, but the whole thing never really took off. E.A.T.E.R. were reformed in the spring of 1985 by Gröten and Micke, and Patrik “Snake” Andersson – bass, and Jerker Nordin – drums. Snake and Jerker had played in K-d Skins and were long-time friends of Gröten and Micke. This line-up giged in Sweden and Denmark. But it all ended abruptly with Jerkers tragic death.
Discussions on realesing Abort the System EP or Dieu et l’Etat EP in dedication to the memory of Jerker were held, but once again the bandmembers couldn’t agree and E.A.T.E.R. dibanded for the second time. Still, E.A.T.E.R. recived attention, especially from abroad, and in ’86 the band is reformed for the third time. This time the line-up consists of Gröten (of course)- guitar, Micke – vocals, Snake – guitar, Pelle (back in business)- drums and Lars Wallbäck – bass. Lars Wallbäck joined the band after having photographed them for promotionphotos for an upcoming tour.

A small eurotour was made in the end of 1986 together with Anti-Toxin, Dirty Scums, Lancia Fiamme, Afflict among others. The last gig of the tour, at AJZ Bielefeld, (West)Germany, was recorded and later released both as cassette-tape and VHS under the name “Live at AJZ Bielefeld”. During the time 1987-1989 E.A.T.E.R. recorded and jammed occationally in their own Battelfield Studios with Gröten – guitar, Micke – vocals, Snake – guitar, Wallbäck – bass and Chris – Drums. No gigs were played and no recordings were released.
