So you want to know what a Ghostnail is? Well, I will let you in on the mystery behind the name. A ghostnail can be found on sunken ships, mainly those made out of wood. The nails used to hold the wood boards in place eventually rust away in the water, leaving a hollow shell in its place. This is known as a ghost nail. It is a fitting metaphore for what we are all about: Something you think you know and have heard before, but it not just quite that. There is something warped and strange about us.
That is our mission; To create new and innovative music from within our (rusty?) souls, not to care what the outside world might think. Ghostnail was formed in the winter of 2004, but its members have been active in other bands such as Mrs. Whore, Mourning star and Damp Locos since the early 90s, and are highly experienced with the music scene. The music is as hard to define, as it is to resist: the band itself likes to refer it to as Ghost metal. But to give you a fair comparison, think White Zombie meets Garbage. Heavy riffs, ghoulish lyrics, but with a twist of pop and dance friendly grooves, all finished off with amazing female vocals.
Those who have heard their music have mentioned bands as diverse as Rammstein, Sisters of Mercy and Nightwish to describe their sound, which only further proves their broad range. Their debut demo, Do you believe? came out in the summer of 2005, and was completely recorded, produced and financed by the members themselves.
The song Zombies has been aired on the Hollywood based radio station xxx.fm, and was also featured on their most played list! The songs are also available for download from the bands official webpage www.ghostnail.tk, and they received great accolades from the metal media even before the demo was out in the publics hands. They have been mentioned in renowned Swedish magazines such as Close-Up Magazine and Slavestate, and were recently interviewed in a feature article for VLT, a local newspaper which has great focus on upcoming local acts.
Not limiting themselves to writing/playing their own music in general, they are also working with the US-based movie company Rottwieler Prod., for which they are writing the entire score for their upcoming movie, "Path of The Dead". Ghostnail are also featured in their previous release, "The Grindhouse Massacre" (not to be confused with the movie by Q. Tarantino!).
The band is now highly motivated to find not only a record deal, but to be able to tour extensively and find a booking agency and a management. Since their music style is very diverse, the possibilities to tour with different kind of bands is naturally something that the band has in mind for the future.
This is a live video for the new track "Path of The Dead".
