About Me
Formed in Seattle in September of 2004, pianist Linda Enns brought together long time musical collaborator Michael Jacobs (Heinous Cannibal Starvation) and newly found drummer David Campbell (Subdwellers, Ol Dominion, Altered Stated of Funk). The three oficially met at Jack Straw studios while putting together Linda's third solo CD (Club Sugar Spin). The project went well, and the band 80:20 was formed...the group is now complete with the arrival of bassist Shaun O'Neil.-----------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------LINDA ENNS, PIANO, VOCALS: Linda Enns is a singer/songwriter from Ottawa, Canada. She studied classical piano with the Royal Conservatory of Music and informally with her father who taught her to play show-tunes and 40's jazz by ear. Her music varies between quirky pop and quiet, introspective piano works. She has been compared to Joni Mitchell, 'Tori Amos on speed', and 'Frank Liszt and honky-tonk meets King Missile', and has been described as 'a piano virtuoso with earthy vocals and rowdy humor' (L. Guru, KALX, Berkeley). She has released several C.D.s, including 'I Know A Girl Who', 'Dirty Green Glass', 'Club Sugar Spin', and 'Give Till It Hurts' (a collaborative C.D. with Mike Jacobs of Heinous Cannibal Starvation, in a musical configuration called 'Tip Jar'). All of these albums received international radio-play and recognition on hundreds of radio stations. ------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------MICHAEL JACOBS, GUITAR, VOCALS: began writing songs in the 80s as a college student in California. Returning to Seattle, where he is a native, he formed a self-described "P-folk" band, Heinous Cannibal Starvation (HCS), whose sound evolved over the 90s into a unique mixture of hand percussion, hard-hitting lyrics, and psychedelic ambient and folk rock-based music. HCS performed all over the Seattle music scene in the 90s, at many clubs no longer existent, such as the Colourbox and Gibsons. Michael writes songs from a neo-hippie point of view, with dark influences shadowing more playful rhythms and melodic excursions, with influences including Ralph Stanley, Woody Guthrie, and Gram Parsons. The storytelling aspect has always been influenced by strong collaborations with other songwriters, notably Linda Enns for the last 7 years.------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------SHAUN O'NEIL, BASS: Shaun doesnt even know how to play the bass. He just wants to hang out with Dave. Influences: Pastorius, Entwhistle, Chambers, Jameson, Skillings, Wimbish, JP Jones, John Taylor, most late-80s hair bands-------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------DAVID CAMPBELL, DRUMS, VOCALS: David began percussion in 9th grade when he played steel drums at Mercer Island High School. In college, he started playing out in the Seattle area, and recording with hip hop groups Subdwellers before leaving for the University of Montana. There, he joined the UM Percussion Ensemble, became reacquainted with steel drums and shared the stage with Grammy award winning percussionist Lalo Davila, drummer Heracio Hernandez, and Julie Spencer. Upon returning to Seattle, he played with various people, most recently Altered States of Funk, and Linda Enns. His drumming is influenced by John Wicks, Mike Stone, Neil Peart, Stanton Moore, Will Calhoun, Jon Fishman, Keith Carlock, Billy Martin, Bernard Purdie, Stewart Copeland, Peter Erskine, Dennis Chambers, John Bonham, Harvey Mason, and Harvey Burns.
