I been around quite a bit but I currently rest my head in the ATL. Motown of the south. I spent most of my years in Seattle. Home of the best trees, Quincy Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, and many more. I started out spinnin' before you could buy a full setup in a box. Back when Instrumentals and a capellas were the norm. Back when the lyrics had meaning...I mean, if you're going to say words...shouldn't the words mean something at the end of the sentence.
I was raised by Quincy, Stevie, Marvin, Al and EWF. That's where I go for a lift off. I ran the streets with Big Daddy Kane, BDP, NWA, 3rd Bass, Ice Cube aka The actor formerly known as the rapper, Rakim (if you don't know who Rakim is or how to say his name, you are NOT hip hop), DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, E.P.M.D. and so many more I can't name.
I also compose music.
Music...
Music is the voice of the struggle. The voice of the people. I've heard people ask "Where are our leaders of today? The Martins, Malcolms, and Mandelas". They're in the music, the direction they're leading us just ain't worth following.
I don't believe that the music of today is a reflection of what people want to hear. People buy what's for sale, lazy people buy what's easily available. If the only kind of trees around are not that great, you still get them cuz you want to smoke, ya dig.
It's all supply and demand, so please people start to demand quality.
