About Me

A self-proclaimed passionate man, Richard Radford describes his music as "Rock with a dose of emotion. I like to describe my music as not contrived, but straight from the heart. I didn't write these songs deliberately. It sounds cliche, but I write out of necessity because my emotions nag at me. Once I start writing it's very hard for me to stop. It's kind of like the songs start writing me instead of me writing them. It's cathartic and necessary for my own sanity." Drawing on influences such as U2, The Verve, Tears For Fears, and The Police, Radford's voice and music gives way to a Britpop feel, accented with textured guitar work and introspective lyrics. He admits that most of his love stories are without happy endings. Whether exploring the loud or soft extremes of his dynamic vocal range, Richard Radford aspires to classic songwriting, tastefully incorporating retro sensibilities and sweet-sounding hooks.
"Songwriter Richard Radford manages that slick-yet-sincere sound that was so big in the mid '80s. Think Tears For Fears or Depeche Mode, but think of them as solo acts." --Dale Maley/Out & About Magazine

College Ruled

I'm sitting here trying to make sense of some lyrics I've been writing over the past couple weeks. Sheets of paper ripped from a single subject spiral notebook. College Ruled. No it didn't...college s...

Time doesn't really exist.

We're just stuck inside a moment that is subdivided into smaller moments. These moments are really nothing more than existence itself. Our bodies change over these moments...and it's inconceivable fo...

Carpooling

I was just reading a science magazine and couldn't put it down. My brain was spinning from all the neat goodness that resided within the pages of that periodical. Apparently there have been 4 or 5 tim...

Too much coffee, not enough sleep...

I've never been much of a coffee drinker in the past,  but now, I seem to be dependent upon it. Would this classify as an addiction? A real addiction, or a pseudo-not-really-a-drug addiction? Doe...

Studio Musings (Part 1)

(Cue theme song) I've been constantly tripping over guitar cables, mic cables, guitar effects pedals, screwdrivers (for use on my exhausted brain), an xylophone (for texture!), and other assorted stud...

Substance & Sincerity (The state of Myspace)...

To whom it may not concern, I'm surprised, on a consistent basis, by what I see and hear on myspace. I would estimate that 90 percent of the content is absolutely crap (in my opinion), but ...

Well, it's time to debut another track off of my self-produced EP. Past The Point Of Knowing. I love how the music player cuts off part of the title leaving you to draw your own conclusions on what yo...
