Who are we? Leading the world into disarray.

About Me

Tomorrows Son was formed in 2001. The bands roots go back to the eighties when childhood friends- Mike Kamoo, Cliff Barton, Rob Cranfield and Andy White formed The Jist. The band was very well liked and the music was very mature as well as profound for the age of the young men. It was in late 1990 when Ethan Janke first caught The Jist at a party somewhere in Chula Vista, CA. He immediately became one of the bands biggest fans and followed The Jist all around San Diego to parties, shows at SOMA (At it's original venue down on Union St.) Eventually the band members went their separate ways. Ethan too went on to form a band by the name of 'Malaise'. Malaise ended up being fairly successful as well opening for the likes of Modern English, Gene Loves Jezabel, The Fixx, David J (of Bauhaus/Love and Rockets), Tonic and others. However, this band too would go it's separate ways. The idea of tomorrows son was born in 2000 when Ethan decided he had spent too much time away from performing and recording music. He immediately began writing as many songs as he could and began performing them acoustically at venues all over San Diego. In early 2001 he decided to contact Mike Kamoo about recording the songs he had written (Mike Kamoo besides being an incredible multi-instrumentalist also owns and operates Earthling Records/Studios). Ethan layed down 20+acoustic tracks before asking Mike to add drums to the tracks. It soon became obvious that the songs were going to come to life and thus it seemed only right to call on the other members of The Jist that still resided in San Diego. Cliff Barton with bass in hand and Rob Cranfield armed with guitars entered the studio and 'tomorrows son' was born. Upon completion of the first studio release, 'Welcome To Today', the band immediately began courting anyone and everyone who might lend an ear. Several of the tracks were immediately picked up by Loudspeaker (91X local band spotlight) and shortly thereafter picked up by FM949 and played on 'Big Sonic Chill' amidst bands like The Cure, Radiohead, Echo and the Bunnymen, Interpol...you get the picture. Tomorrows Son in it's relatively short life has played with such notable acts as- Guided By Voices, The Trashcan Sinatras, Year of the Rabbit, South, Phantom Planet, Metric, Rocket From the Crypt, among others.
