“A passionate fusion of heavy metal + drum n' bass grooves, Mask Of Judas burst onto the scene, proving that women kick ass just as hard as men, with a furious mixture of elegance and aggression.â€
Mask of Judas formed officially in 2005 and throughout their existence have been determined to make a resounding impact on the world of metal. With influences ranging between Lauren hill and Emperor, the group has sought to combine all their personalities and create music they feel is unique to themselves. Front-woman Jo’s ability to sing so sweetly and then shake the gates of hell with screams, is complimented by a band who have the ability to change between hardcore thrash and chill out grooves in the blink of an eye.
An intense live show, the band gives there all, making sure each riff is pummelled into the ears of the audience and logged in the brain with vicious guitars and unforgiving drumming. Singer Jo says “ I'm a really shy person but when we play i completely immerse myself in what i'm screaming about. Its an excellent way pto channel angerâ€.
After a furious campaign of live shows to promote their second EP “Neglected Reflections†around South England and London (which saw them play with bands such as Gutworm, Interlock and Die So Fluid) they've gained excellent review in major press (including Terrorizer Magazine) and exposure on various terrestrial and online radio shows (including express FM's rock show and total rock radio etc.)
The present sees them expanding the depths of their brutality with a mass of new creations to get your teeth into before relaunching themselves upon the nation's venues starting this February. So get ready for some aural hostility.
And as for our name…
Judas Iscariot was the disciple who betrayed Jesus. While we are not a religious band, our name represents the concept of a person's true identity being revealed from beneath a deceitful mask, or even the revelation to ourselves of a side we never knew existed as part of us. Another representation is the vision of society as Judas. On one side is a part you love and enjoy and on the other is a kind of solitary hate, which stems from an over-bearing world. Whatever the interpretation, the resultant anger is what encourages us to rise above and become better people. Our music is our safe release from all the frustrations of our daily lives. We treat people how we would wish to be treated.
