I'm not here to find a man, so leave me alone!

About Me

Blog Archives are at: http://bethjahnsen.wordpress.com/I am a woman.
I’m not a chick, I’m more comfortable around dudes. I wish they could think of me as one of them, but they don’t.
I’m not a girl, I’ve never been girlie. I do like getting dressed up and looking good but I resent the fact that somewhere along the line I was told I’m not supposed to leave the house without makeup on.
I have my own opinions and I don’t really care if you want to hear them, I’m going to tell you what they are.
I will not giggle at your stupid jokes, but if you're funny I’ll laugh louder than anyone in the room.
I will not pretend that you’re smarter than me, but you might be.
I will never be coy, demure or benign, but I will always be honest.
I am strong, and I will not pretend to be weak so as to make you feel more comfortable.
I am intense, loud, and outspoken. Deal with it.
I am funny, I like to make people laugh.
I am a child of God. He is my father and my greatest hope is to make Him proud.
I am a mother. I will lay down my life for my kids, they are second only to God.
I am a daughter. I respect and love my parents and when they are old I will take care of them.
I am a friend. If you’re my friend you will be for life, even if I haven’t seen you in twenty years.
I am generous, if you need twenty dollars I will probably give it to you whether I can afford it or not. I find great joy in buying little gifts for people I know.
I am overbearing. I’m working on it.
I talk way too fast. I’ve realized it’s because I have so much to say and people generally stop listening to me after a couple of minutes.
I am curious – I desperately want to understand Quantum Mechanics, but I’m afraid I never will. I hope String Theory is right, I like the idea that everything boils down to a single element vibrating at millions of different frequencies. I’d love it if the entire universe is simply Gods idea of a symphony.
I love music, almost every kind.
I love musicians and am so thankful I’m not one.
I want to be a better person, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, lover and friend. I hope I’m at least walking in that direction.
I want to live a fearless life. I hope when I’m old, I will look back and know, that not only did I do the best I could, but that I made a difference in someone’s life. I hope I’m remembered, as my grandfather is, as someone who made things better while I was here.
I am a woman.
