David's first studio recording, "The Unshackled E.P." showcases the diversity in his musical taste and provides a fantastic representation of what you should expect when you see him live.
From David Upton CD Review by "The Lords Music" on MySpace:
With deep vocals, similar to Todd Agnew, David Upton brings us honest and passionate worship music.
Unshackled starts with a simple guitar riff, but moves on to deep lyrics that will touch every heart. Speaking of the state we are in before salvation, and then leading into the chorus which speaks of how we are "forgiven and free."
Too Many Times is a song that hits you with passion straight from the start. With deep honesty, David Upton sings of the times he feels far away from God, and the times when he "wanders away." This song is one that all listeners will be able to connect with. The song is a great reminder that God is always there, but that we are the ones who walk away sometimes.
Water’s Edge has a country feel to it, while still incorporating David Upton’s signature vocals. It is a song about needing God in order to live this life. Needing that taste of Him every day.
It’s Not About Me starts out with a melodic guitar riff that will have you humming along in no time. This song is almost like a ballad that talks about God being the one to bring us home when we’ve gone away. The chorus drives home the point that this life is not about us, but rather all about God.
Finally, You Are Loved is a piano driven ballad that begins with an emotional intro. It speaks to the hurting people of this world, leading them to the love of Christ.
David Upton has such a passionate heart for God, and it comes through loud and clear through his music.
