About Me

My name is T0ny D0yle, I have been left disabled, after surviving cancer and a tumour in my spinal Lumber. I had paid into the company sick pay insurance scheme for 18 years. I was videoed and followed by private investigators for 3 days, and although it shows no capability to work it is being used against me. I have posted some stills from the video. reasons to be paranoid?Check out your sick pay insurance. Keep a copy of the policy. What happens if you are permenantly disabled by illness? Get a statement and read the small print. My insurance covered me for long term disability once the illness had started, the insurance company arbitrarily changed the policy to capable of any occupasion. Which means that a man with no arms or legs, could get a job blowing up balloons. It dosn't matter to the insurance comany that I have X ray reports, Physio reports and my Dr says he doesn't think I am capable of holding down a part time job. They have a telephone statement from a GP, who has never examined me, saying it would be good for me to do light work and get out of the house, and my cancer specialist sying I'm cured of cancer.WATCH OUT.The Private Investigators found my old Band web site and tried to imply I still played with the WrapperBand, and attend folk sessions.!!!Anyone knows me will know that I was a well known semi pro fiddle player befiore I was ill, who attended all the sessions and wrote a book on English folk music. Since I've geen disabled I hardly get out and have given up playing the fiddle and attending sessions, I found this particularly sick. The message to Love is for all the people who came to see me in hospital when I was terminally ill, and helped me have something to live for. Leon, Stuart Mortimore, Alan Nicholls, Danny and Kyla Brox, Dr Stableforth, Dr Spooner, Sandwell Hosplital, Pete Greenfield, Jon Mambo, Tasos, Roger Fiskin, Robin Sunflower, Foz, Simon Mills, Sue, Michael Anderson, Stan Crane, Beverly, John Harrison and all the people who have helped me since I was ill, Will Falkiner, Steve Love, LSDean, Sarah, Ben, Julie O'Hara, Jonny Brown, Dru, Phil Considine, Mike Mellor, Dr Andrew Starr, Ralph Smethurst, Pearse. Leon and Marshall Gill, Midi and Andy, Tony Auton, Tina lee, Rachel, Simon Cullen, Ilene Cullen, Rebecca Cullen, Carl. Dr Hartley.TonyBorn to Rock, I once hoped so.I remember that we had 2 LPs that I used to play constantly on the stereogram when I was very young, one was Rubber Soul by the Beatles and the other was the Dubliners live (1964).My grandfather, Nick Doyle was competent melodeon player, and played around the Sparkbrook area of Birmingham during 1930-1970s. Although he never gave me any lessons but I used to really enjoy his playing of the old Irish songs and tunes. I was lucky enough to be given a reel to reel tape by my Grandmother that Nick had made in the 1960's.
Nick Doyle on Melodeon - Birmingham ~1969After jamming around when I was a kid, with the likes of my cousin Dean O'loughlin's reggae Band at UB40 old rehearsal rooms in Birmingham and with friends round my home in Great Barr, I bought a Gibson SG and a VOX AC30, became a student and joined and formed various bands in the 80's. The best of which was Zimbra Cycle who played many a gig in the Stoke-on-Trent area. I remember supporting Hambi and the Dance at Stoke Poly, when we started my E string had been mysteriously detuned. Luckily, I whapped it up straight into tune and carried on; as it was the biggest gig we'd done in front of 500 people, i could have been very embaraced. Zimbra CycleI was then in a band called Ghost's Before Breakfast - with Rob & Keith McCulloch, Rob was in a band called the Critical Three, with Pete Wiley, Ian McCulloch and Julien Cope. The drummer did an interview in Face which said Rob was a cabaret guitarist (probably because he knew 4 chords and a couple of songs!). Rob & Keith had a brilliant duo doing Beatles numbers, but wanted to get a band of original material together. Ghosts before breakfast When I came to Manchester I started to learn the violin. After 10 years practice I joined the The Wrapper Band, a English/North West Folk/Rock celiedh dance Band. Heres what the Band was like before I joined. I replaced Jamie Knowles on fiddle. Peter Crowther eventually replaced Paul Walker and Jenny, with Bass & Keyboards. "
It's In the Post ( 4 tunes)" - Plain Brown Wrapper Band 1990 I played many a wedding, untill I've had to stop playing the violin. Ashley Ashworth - a young talented melodeon player from Diggle, has now taken over my spot in the band. The Wrapper Band had a couple of attemps at recording whilst I was with them, the best of which was "Atticus - 1996"
The Wrapperband - 4 Tracks from Atticus 1996In that time I learnt to read music a bit, and I published a book of old tunes from the Manchester area that I had found in old manuscripts and books, while researching tunes for the Wrapper Band to play. I've still got a few copies of the tune book left, and you can read more about it on my old Wrapperband site. Wrapper Band siteOr you can buy a copy with the PAYPAL links below ..
